Gourmet- und Boutiquehotel Tanzer

Even from the outside, the building with its inviting wooden facade radiates what’s going on inside: Unique hospitality. Anyone who steps over the threshold here becomes part of the large Tanzer family. “Der Tanzerwirt”, as they like to say in Issing, has been owned by the Baumgartner family for generations. In 2015, Christl and Hans Baumgertner had the building renovated: Modern, clear lines, combined with lots of warm wood have since created a feel-good atmosphere marrying tradition and modernity, just as the family set out to do. Daughter Melanie holds the fort as the junior manager at the reception, son Hannes wields the wooden spoons as the chef and son-in-law Michael tastes fine wines from the in-house wine cellar “Pro Vino” as the sommelier. All contribute to the fact that the hotel in the middle of the Dolomites has become an attraction for gourmets and wine lovers: Tanzer has been awarded 14 points in the Gault Millau, making it one of the most successful toque restaurants in South Tyrol. And rightly so, because allowing the five-course gourmet menu to melt in your mouth is a bit like climbing one summit of pleasure after another. In short: You really only eat very, very rarely as excellently as you do at Tanzer. But if you think you can only indulge in physical well-being here, you are mistaken. The Pustertal offers fantastic retreats, peace and relaxation on a par with untouched nature. In summer as in winter, the stunning mountain landscape all around appeals with a variety of activities—there’s everything that the demanding vacationer’s heart desires. So it’s no wonder that you don’t say “goodbye” to the Baumgartner family, but “farewell!”—because anyone who’s been here once, usually comes back again. And again and again ...

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

• The Tanzer is located in the small, enchanted village of Issing, the number of houses can be counted on two hands—perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of the world.
• The building blends harmoniously into the village structure and yet is a true standout in its own right.
• The hosts seem to be able to read minds (or why is there a homemade jam for every taste at breakfast à la carte?).
• Brightly designed rooms and natural materials create a homely atmosphere; each guest receives a wellness bag with bathrobe, bath towel and slippers.
• The 50-square-meter suite in the roof garden will impress you with a modern one room interior featuring natural wood furniture and exclusive designer pieces—and the view from the roof terrace is literally breathtaking.
• Wellness garden with heated whirlpool that can be used all year round; from there, you can let your gaze wander over the sensational UNESCO Natural World Heritage Site: The Dolomites.
• If you can’t manage to finish your meal (and this is indeed a pity), you pay €10 less.
• You will dream of it long after your stay: The fabulous desserts from the house patisserie—just the sight of them makes your mouth water!
