If the name sounds like something out of a storybook, it’s not surprising. There are indeed many stories to be told about Palais Wunderlich in Lahr in the Black Forest. Built in 1798/99 as the stately residence of the colonial goods merchant Carl Ludwig Wunderlich, the property has housed, over the years, not only merchants and mayors, but also a cigar factory and a wine shop.
