Fancy a refreshing walk in the forest? Pedal boating on the fabulously idyllic Arbersee? Whether by mountain bike or on foot, the countryside around Bodenmais in the Bavarian Forest has its particular charm for everyone. Adventurers, nature lovers, explorers and sports entusiasts will quickly lose their hearts to this region. Just like Daniel and Stefan. After a few exciting years in Berlin, they felt the need for something new. They wanted to get out of the capital, into the countryside, open their own little hotel. Their search for the perfect place took them to many ever-popular vacation spots in Germany (the Mecklenburg Lake District and the foothills of the Alps were among them) - finally they found their dream in the idyllic village of Bodenmais ¬ the Boutique BnB Winterfeld was for sale, a small bed & breakfast with the best Bavaria has to offer right on the doorstep: forests, mountain streams, waterfalls, lakes. The new owners cleared out the house, remodeled and modernized it, and made it really chic, with open rooms, straight cuts, clean lines, subtle colors, fine materials. The relaxed, urban design ¬ the years in the capital send their regards ¬ clearly sets itself apart from other guesthouses in the region. Individual, modern, stylish. Elegant black, white and gray dominate, with colorful details such as cushions or vases, and small flower arrangements to make it particularly homey. Traditional elements in the house also get a cheeky place of honor ¬ here and there you’ll find paintings of the region in a modern arrangement as a small salute to the past. It’s not just the hosts’ attention to detail though that make Winterfeld Guesthouse so wonderful, it’s also the fact that they are hosts with heart and soul. It’s clear that the guests' happiness is their ultimate goal. Their motto: "Sleep like a baby, breakfast with friends, feel at home."

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

• The elegant-urban style with clear, simple colors and furnishings
• The large, open breakfast lounge with floor-to-ceiling windows and an Honesty house bar for afternoon treats
• The Scandi style in the lounge is skillfully broken up by vintage nature paintings, giving it a regional touch.
• Good morning sunshine! The rooms not only have floor-to-ceiling windows, but each has its own balcony
• Fair trade bed linen and towels as well as organic cosmetics in the bathrooms
• In the rooms, we love the combination of glazed pine, whose rough grain contrasts with subtly colored walls and sleek black details.
• The designer lamps bathe everything in an even more beautiful light
• In each of the 10 rooms there is a different work of art by local photo artist Evi Lemberger - beautiful filigree photos of plants from the region
• Those who have had enough of the outdoors can relax at home in the sauna, outdoor Jacuzzi or on the sun terrace.
• The fireplace in the garden is always a nice place to chat and listen to music.

GOOD TO KNOW:

• There are small and large double rooms, altogether there are 10 in four different categories, all equipped like hotel rooms with minibar, TV and room safe.
• From classic room to junior suite, all rooms have comfortable king-size beds.
• The house is for adults only.
• There is a separate storage room for bikes or ski equipment (incl. charging station for e-bikes).
• The Honesty Bar in the lounge is always there for you
• The hosts always have good tips for outdoor activities ¬ whether hiking, mountain biking or canoe tours...
• Winterfeld loves the winter: 114 km of cross-country ski trails, take the gondola or chairlifts up the Great Arber for alpine descents on skis or snowboard.
• Excursions to the tree-top walk, to the Bavarian Forest National Park, to the region’s numerous glass factories, to the idyllically situated Small or Great Arber Lake, to the waterfalls...
• The nearest larger cities Regensburg or Passau are both about an hour's drive away.
