Bader Hotel
A "business boutique" hotel—isn't that a contradiction in terms? Not necessarily—where Monika Hobmeier is concerned, both are possible. The Munich hotel owner simply thinks outside of the box. Effortlessly combining what seemingly doesn't go together, she knows what she likes. That's why she had a hotel built in her hometown of Parsdorf that completely reflects her vision: Families and children are just as welcome as business guests. Visitors to Munich who want to get away from all the hustle and bustle in the evenings share the space with people traveling by car from north to south. This is the right place for all of them. The hotel is conveniently located on the highway not far from Munich in a rather industrial setting—another apparent contrast—yet you feel as if you have landed in a small but perfectly formed haven. Once inside, you’re greeted by a friendly, personal atmosphere. A wonderful garden surrounds the modern wooden hotel resounding with buzzing and chirping. Where does this lightness and openness come from? The courage to create a special place in this environment? Monika Hobmeier's answer to this is lagom—which is Swedish and means something like "appropriate" or "just right". In other words, a lifestyle in which there’s enough of everything and not too much of anything—the right mix to make you feel relaxed and happy. Children, family, work, leisure are all united under one roof at the Bader Hotel. The family lived in Sweden for several years and brought back certain aspects of the Swedish lifestyle with them. But not only that—the style is also more Scandinavian than Bavarian. The light larch wood facade of the elegant purist building makes that clear: The element wood plays a leading role in the design concept of the building. All 50 rooms feature beautiful light-colored wood and timeless minimalist interiors kept in natural tones. Plenty of daylight and carefully chosen lights enhance the sense of well-being. Overall, everything is pared back to the essentials—lagom, indeed. Only the (sparingly used) roebuck antlers from the family estate are a nod to the fact that there are also Bavarian roots here. So servus and välkommen to this Swedish-Bavarian feel-good place.
WHAT WE LIKE:
- Lots of wood, simple fabrics, stone and oak floors, light natural tones, and white, gray and sandy colors define the interior—dare we say hygge?
- The lobby is like a living room, with fireplace, sofas, books to browse and some games.
- Entering the minimalist all-wood rooms, you can’t help but instantly feel relaxed.
- Family business: Ernst Bader, the father-in-law, designed the interior. The rooms feature design elements he created himself, such as table and chair, wall hooks and sideboards. In the lobby, which he also designed, he even did the lighting himself.
- The Kaspar restaurant—named after Grandpa Kaspar—cooperates with selected regional suppliers and has a small and fine menu; for house guests; the menu changes regularly with seasonal dishes
- The garden with its sunny terrace, native flowers, a great strawberry patch and aronia berry bushes (ever tried an aronia berry spritzer?)
- The really friendly hotel team
- Nature and the environment already set the tone during planning: A lot of wood ensures a good CO2 balance—a green roof ensures a good indoor climate.
- Selected, ecological care products from "Team Dr. Joseph" in the bathrooms
- Animal curiosities: The roebuck antlers come from Monika Hobmeier's family, adding a tiny bit of Bavarian style to the hotel; the bird boxes scattered in conference corridors are a combination of hand-carved little birds from Sweden and bird boxes made in the neighborhood.
