Duas Portas

Duas Portas, two doors that are always open and invite you to celebrate the real Portuguese way of life. The idea is as simple as it is brilliant, and is also reflected in the accommodation’s minimalist logo – two rectangles standing side by side, one large and narrow, one small and wide. Just like the two entrance doors of the successfully restored townhouse. The charming Duas Portas dates back to the 19th century, and is located in the middle of Porto on the banks of the Douro River. It is a family project – Luísa Souto, her brother-in-law Miguel and Mama Luisa have given the house its distinctive character. As an architect, mother Luísa helped oversee the building project and ensured that the history of the building never got lost in all the modernization. An old ornate door, stone walls, wooden ceilings ... here and there you’ll find traces of times long gone. The eight uniquely designed rooms have been furnished with great attention to detail. High-quality designer pieces meet custom-made furniture in a restrained Scandinavian style. The color palette ranges from radiant white to natural wood tones to rich dark green, radiating tranquility and a feel-good atmosphere. And the location! Duas Portas is close to everything and yet far away from the hustle and bustle. It's a place to push the pause button – you come to rest here and the little things you encounter seem infinitely precious. Like Aunt Francisca's delicious cake, its fragrance tickling every guest's nose as soon as they enter.

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

  • The incomparable ambience: the loving, personal touch with which this accommodation is run and the friendliness of all the staff are truly exceptional.
  • The architecture of the house, which manages to create a link between the past and the present.
  • Five minutes to the beach and ten minutes to the city center
  • Up to 18 people can stay in the eight suites, there is a communal living room, a terrace and a quiet, sunny garden – it’s a fabulous retreat for breathing deep and reflecting.
  • The bright rooms are all around 25 or 27 m², air-conditioned and equipped with super-king-size or king-size beds that sleep incredibly well; four rooms overlook the river and four the beautiful garden.
  • Every guest receives a bathrobe and slippers – sometimes you are tempted to walk around the building in them because you just feel so at home.
  • The in-house vegetarian restaurant

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • Breakfast is included – fresh regional delicacies are served and you can also enjoy homemade pastéis de nata, which you should definitely try!
  • Parents, curb your enthusiasm, or don’t – for an extra charge, Duas Portas offers a babysitting service; it also has airport transfers and individual tours.
  • Nearby there is a popular mini-golf course and two museums of modern art.
  • A boat trip on the Douro, a leisurely stroll through the Parque da Cidade or through the beautiful gardens of the Serralves Park are always worthwhile.
  • Rumor has it that the Taberna de Sao Pedro in Afurada serves exceptionally good grilled fish.
  • Guests can borrow bicycles for free – perfect for riding into the old town, feeling the wind in your hair and enjoying the Portuguese flair.
