Feldkoje Fehmarn
The island of Fehmarn offers long beaches and crashing waves, small villages and lots of unspoiled nature. In the island’s hinterland, things are quiet: Sheep graze in the meadows, and the wind blows through the fields. This is exactly where the Feldkoje is located. The vacation home of Caren and Thes Rauert is located away from the hustle and bustle and yet is only a short bike ride from Bojendorf beach. A practical tip for guests: There’s a bike rental directly on site. The hosts put a lot of onus on the design of the living space—as they call the open-plan kitchen with living and dining area. Its double height under the sloping roof gives it a particularly airy feel. Above the sofa, amorphous glass lamps emphasize the height. The furniture and accessories are mainly from Scandinavian designers and create a contemporary yet warm atmosphere. The kitchen, made of oak wood and stainless steel, is not only eye-catching, but also well equipped. This heart of the home offers ample space for communal meals, games or simply a beautiful wide view of the surroundings—a large window front directs the view straight out towards the field. The three bedrooms offer space to retreat. The walls painted in pastel colors in combination with furniture made of wood create a harmonious effect. Outside, guests have a choice of two terraces. Whether breakfast in the morning sun or relaxing on the sun lounger, the choice is there. Children have also been thought of: In the tall grass, they’ll find tree discs for sitting around a stylized fire pit. Now, if that doesn’t whet their appetite for adventure! By the way, that’s something you can experience with children everywhere on the many natural beaches of the island. If you manage to leave the Feldkoje that is.
WHAT WE LIKE MOST:
- The beautiful house where you could easily just spend all your time: Plenty of space for communal activities and yet room for retreating.
- The modern, inviting design in Scandinavian style makes the 50-square-meter living space a place of well-being.
- Large window fronts offer wide views of the surroundings.
- The fireplace for cooler days. Since it has glass on three sides, you can look into the crackling fire from (almost) all positions.
- Terrible weather? In the large entrance area, there’s enough space for shoes and jackets so the living area stays clean and tidy.
- For romantics: The terrace is a wonderful spot to watch the sunset.
- In summer, life takes place outside. In the large garden, there’s also the option to barbecue.
- House and surroundings seems to merge thanks to the many large windows.
- The quiet village atmosphere immediately creates a feeling of relaxation.
- Fehmarn is also worth a trip in winter. Then, the Feldkoje makes a perfect and very cozy place to retreat.
