Daft Hotel

One look at the speaker-covered wall behind the reception desk says it all – this place lives and breathes music. In fact, the story of the urban hotel in Malmedy in the province of Liège began with the Daft Music Studios right next door, where everything from Belgian classical ensembles to electronic dance music has been recorded. This creative spirit is just as palpable in the boutique vacation accommodation as it is between the mixing desk and microphones next door (don't worry, you won't hear a thing!). In the lounge, you can grab a craft beer at the Honesty Bar, make yourself comfortable on one of the sofas and strike up a conversation with interesting people. In the vinyl corner, you can wax nostalgic when you rediscover your favorite LP and listen to the typical crackling sound of yesteryear by the fireplace. Or you can splash around in the heated indoor pool to the sound of underwater music. While music lovers feel right at home here, the Daft Hotel is also a place of peace and relaxation. It’s situated in the untouched landscape of the Ardennes, with wooded hills through which the Semois River meanders, having carved its way deep into the mountains over the course of time. Sleep in one of fourteen rooms with a contemporary, Scandinavian, understated design. Those who prefer to wake to birdsong can enjoy the great outdoors between the end of April and the end of September. Twelve bohemian-style glamping tents are set up around the hotel, furnished like hotel rooms. Sound good? We think so too!

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

• The hosts have made it their mission to create a real home-away-from-home feeling, but with extra service, and they have succeeded.
• Grilling marshmallows over the evening campfire in the garden and watching the flames blaze.
• The natural beach by the small stream, which is great for cooling off on hot days.
• After extensive hiking tours, you can look forward to warming up in the hotel's own sauna.
• The great Rituals care products that are available in the rooms. They contain mostly natural ingredients, have a subtle and wonderful fragrance.
• That most of the rooms can be transformed into a cozy cineaste's paradise in no time at all. Simply connect the projector to your mobile phone and the room becomes your own cinema. If you want to enjoy films with a larger group, the same convenience is available in the home cinema.
• The panoramic view from the lounge of the garden and the sun terrace, where you can while away the day in good weather.
• When fresh popcorn is being prepared in the garden’s outdoor kitchen.

GOOD TO KNOW:

• There are 10 double rooms, 2 family rooms, 2 single rooms and 12 glamping tents (from April to October).
• The hotel is also a popular venue for team-building events or management workshops. It offers space for up to 200 people as well as a B&W® sound system, beamer, LED-screen, flipchart, notebooks.
• The hotel is located on a 5,000m² lot, surrounded by a dense forest.
• The breakfast buffet is prepared with organic and healthy ingredients from local farmers and producers and is included in the price.
• Sometimes a pop-up restaurant is hosted at the hotel, but there is also a good pizzeria within walking distance.
• Wi-fi is free, stable and super fast.
• If you want to head out on your mountain bike, this is the place to be. You can set off on tours directly from the hotel. The hotel offers a bike wash, repair kits, a secure storage room, route maps and a direct line to the bike rental shop.
• Events take place here all year round, just take a look at the calendar.
• In a glamping mood? The tents are equipped with 4 beds, bed linen and towels. Glampers have access to a shared bathroom, additional outdoor-packages include the use of a covered outdoor kitchen with a grill, pots, pans, plates and cutlery, and a communal dining area under a pavillion in the garden. A private wellness session in the hotel can also be booked, as well as the Zen option with a Dutchtub, a wood-fired whirlpool.
• The pretty town of La-Roche-en-Ardenne is surrounded by a beautiful natural landscape and is just over 60 kilometers away. The nearest airport, Liège, is around 70 kilometers away.
