La Novieta
Every now and then we simply have to treat ourselves to a little escape from everyday life and take time out for each other. A change of scenery for a few days, just for two, surrounded only by beautiful things: Enjoying the moment, indulging in leisure, delicious food and fine wine, discovering a new area. All the better if you’ve already found the perfect place to do just that: In December 2023, a boutique hotel that perfectly embodies this vision opened in the heart of Valencia, Spain, just a short walk from the historic old town. The current owners, Bertrand and Fabien, describe the moment when they first entered the 1924 townhouse as being like the rush of excitement you feel on meeting your first great love as a teenager. Such high emotions! And these only intensified for the two men from Paris during the four-year renovation. True marvels came to light that had long lain dormant: Magnificent stucco, original stone arches, handmade tiles, wooden beams and doors with patina that tell the story of the building’s past history. Today, the listed building is a tribute to cultural and historical Valencia, with its own small art collection, vintage pieces and a touch of nostalgia that can be felt everywhere. A tranquil retreat with four beautiful rooms, it’s the perfect place to return to after an exciting day in this vibrant city, rounded off by an evening with a drink on the terrace or sampling creative snacks in the tapas bar. It’s hardly surprising that your heart beats faster in a place like this ...
WHAT WE LIKE MOST:
- This great location can be visited all year round. Even in winter, you can stroll through the streets into the night, enjoying mild temperatures, share beautiful moments on the beach or go on excursions into the hinterland.
- The location just around the corner from the trendy Ruzafa district, the former working class neighborhood that is now the hub of Valencia’s cultural and nightlife scene
- The hotel’s magnificent rust-red façade, which has been carefully restored
- The four individually designed en suite rooms: “Amarilla” is flooded with light. With its restrained color scheme, “Arena” radiates timelessness and tranquility. “Almendra”, with its Directoire-style furniture and time-honored charm, overlooks the patio garden with its large cacti. Champagne tones and art deco furniture lend “Crema” an elegant touch.
- How beautifully historical elements and modern comfort harmonize with each other: Parisian chic with contemporary design, unique pieces and international works of art.
- The beautiful historic tiles from 1924 that can be found in the rooms, as well as the five-meter-high ceilings that make everything feel airy and spacious
- From the Art Nouveau closet and vintage washbasins to the elegant 70s crystal glass wall lights, there are real treasures to be discovered in the rooms.
- The soft lighting that underlines the nostalgic charm
- The delicious tapas created by Fabien himself—with influences from all over the world. Regionality and seasonality are particularly important to him when selecting ingredients.
- The cocktail menu takes you on a short voyage of discovery through the world of flavors. Aromen erinnert
