Das Edith

Hidden behind the facades of the Wilhelminian and Art Nouveau buildings with their enchanting courtyards, you’ll discover charming restaurants and cafés, traditional bakeries, small galleries and manufactories. Welcome to the creative and lively Heusteig district in Stuttgart! If you feel like spending more time in one of the listed old buildings, you should definitely check out the city hotel run by Claudia Edith Otterbeck. Having grown up in the city, she fulfilled a long-cherished dream by opening in its doors in 2023. The dedicated hostess named the hotel after her grandmother as a tribute to a very special connection, founded on her love of hospitality, the joy of the unusual and her love of art. Das Edith is located in a small side street and is home to five individual rooms and suites. As soon as you walk through the historic front door, you’re greeted in person, making you feel at ease and welcome straightaway. This is a haven full of peace and relaxation in the middle of urban life. The house has been carefully renovated by local craftsmen using only natural materials. The bedrooms are equipped with the ultimate in modern creature comforts with lovingly curated individual pieces lending each one its own character. The wooden “sleeping boxes” in the two suites and the Double Deluxe room are very cozy, framing the bed and giving you the feeling of being cocooned from the rest of the world. Of course, that doesn’t mean that you won’t enjoy diving back into it in the morning, especially when the smell of fresh bread and coffee is so enticing...

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

  • The charm of the old building with high ceilings and double doors, herringbone parquet flooring in the Grande Suite and oiled wooden floors in the other rooms
  • The beds in the wooden sleeping boxes in the three large rooms are a visual highlight.
  • The handcrafted wooden furniture, made using traditional techniques, minimalist in design and manufacture
  • The wonderful ceramics by Yvette Hoffmann, which set accents in exactly the right places
  • The extra-long mattresses and the cuddly soft comforters. Time to get up? Not quite yet, just need a few more minutes ...
  • The airy, simple and beautiful bathrooms with light natural tones and care products from Frama Copenhagen made from natural ingredients
  • Claudia’s unbeatable breakfast with ingredients from the organic market or the family bakery down the street. Granola, scrambled eggs, sourdough bread—everything is freshly and locally prepared. Some of the herbs and fruit come from her own garden. Claudia’s mom makes the muesli and jams herself.
  • The kitchen is also open to everyone during the day: There’s an honesty bar where you can help yourself to beer, natural wines or small snacks such as madeleines or curried cashew nuts.
  • When the most important meal of the day is eaten together at the long kitchen table, it’s often a real experience full of inspiring conversations and international encounters—and it’s great to soak up the relaxed and informal atmosphere.

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • The hotel has three rooms and two suites. The suite for one to four guests with double bed and sofa bed has a free-standing bathtub. The Grande Suite with a small balcony can accommodate two adults and one child. The Double Deluxe accommodates two people and a workstation. The two rooms in the Double Petit category with a view of the quiet inner courtyard sleep one to two guests.
  • Breakfast is highly recommended and must be booked on arrival at the latest.
  • Is exercise on the agenda? Sports enthusiasts meet up at Weißenburgpark after a slightly challenging climb, with a final sprint at the TV tower.
  • An environmental badge (green sticker) is required for every vehicle driving and parking in the Stuttgart city area. If you’re looking for a suitable parking space, please contact Claudia and her team.
  • There are a few special offers available for trips with friends, for couples, for time with the kids or the exclusive booking of the entire hotel.
  • So, what are we doing today? The varied cultural offerings of museums, ballet, opera, theater and jazz are all within walking distance. What’s also great is the small city guide “Das Edith x Stuttgart” available in the rooms and featuring favorite places and many good tips.
  • The hotel is easy to reach from Stuttgart train station. The nearest stop is Österreichischer Platz. From there it’s a 400-meter walk.
