WaldVilla

If you are looking for a place where you can taste the salt of the sea in the air and wake up surrounded by light-flooded coastal forest, a break in the seaside resort of Lubmin could be a pretty good idea. Just three hundred meters from the Baltic Sea beach with its fine sand, an extraordinary hideaway has been available since April 2025. The modern architecture of the “WaldVilla” blends harmoniously with nature. Large panoramic windows offer an unobstructed view of the pine trees towering high into the sky and create the feeling of being outside in nature, even when you are cozy on the sofa with a cup of tea. The accommodation consists of two units, the main house “Gustav” and the tiny house “Franz,” which can be booked together or separately. The façade and terrace are designed with Kebony wood, which develops its characteristic silver-gray patina over time and forms a beautiful contrast to the roof and the window and door frames in matt black. It takes a lot of imagination to picture that not so long ago, this very spot was home to a dacha from the GDR era, without heating and with a sagging floor. Host Fanny used to spend every summer here. Today, her children build sandcastles on the same beach, have adventures in the forest, and grow up in this environment that is full of memories for her. That's why it was important to her to create a place with personality, full of individual details and second-hand treasures that complement the minimalist, modern interior: a tree-edge table, a bench made of recycled linen and wood, and the wicker chairs from the retro hut, which have found a new home in the bedrooms. Pieces that fill this beautiful house with stories–and with each new guest, new ones are added.

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

  • the long dining table in front of the panoramic window with a direct view of the coastal forest in the “Gustav” house. The combination of exposed concrete, the sage green of the kitchen-diner, and the herringbone oak parquet flooring creates a warm and inviting atmosphere.
  • The clear design language and minimalist style that allows the surrounding nature to take center stage.
  • The fact that you can spend your days off here in the middle of the forest without having to forego any amenities. The Gustav house has a Finnish herbal sauna with infusion and a freestanding bathtub with a view.
  • The large Kebony wood terraces belonging to both units, with Emu outdoor furniture, a Weber gas grill, and the perfect setting for yoga, morning coffee, reading books, or just sitting, breathing, and listening to the woodpecker pecking.
  • how perfectly every corner of the tiny house has been utilized and how the light colors on the walls and floors still make it feel airy
  • the children's room with forest animal motifs on the walls and a custom-made bunk bed that is simply super cozy
  • ending the day relaxing by the fireplace after long walks on the beach (a basket of firewood is provided)
  • the North German cantuccini biscuits that await guests as a welcome gift
  • the location among countless pine trees, just a few steps away from the kilometer-long sandy beach of the small seaside resort of Lubmin–from there you can see as far as the island of Rügen
  • the many opportunities to get some exercise in the fresh air: kitesurfing, stand-up paddling, jogging along the Baltic Sea–and what could be happier than an autumn walk through the forest, collecting porcini mushrooms and chestnuts?

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • The house consists of two separate units that can be booked individually or together: Tiny House “Franz” is suitable for two people; “Gustav” has two bedrooms, each with an en suite bathroom, one with a freestanding bathtub, and a children's room. There is space for up to seven people here.
  • Young guests are very welcome. Children's tableware, high chair, coloring supplies and books, crib and bedding–nothing is missing here
  • The WaldVilla has a comfortable temperature: the building is heated by an air heat pump, and a decentralized ventilation system with heat recovery ensures a consistently pleasant indoor climate. Both accommodations have underfloor heating.
  • Important essentials for peaceful nights have also been taken care of: insect screens on all windows and electric blinds for darkening the rooms.
  • To turn the outdoor area into a second living room, there are cozy blankets, deck chairs, and patio furniture.
  • Not only is this the perfect place for a family vacation or a weekend with friends, but separate work areas and fiber optic internet also make the house ideal for workations, small team offsites, and creative breaks.
  • Campfires are not permitted. However, the spa administration offers a fire pit for rent at the beach entrance (the hosts are happy to put you in touch!).
  • Other things to do here: the university town of Greifswald and the fishing village of Wieck are worth a visit. And the nearby island of Usedom offers great bike paths along the coast and historic imperial spas.
