Monte da Palmeira

Sun. Sun. Sun. At Villa Monte da Palmeira, it seems to stream through every nook and cranny. This little paradise is located on a hill in a nature reserve in the heart of the Algarve, close to the popular beaches on the south coast of Portugal. Four beautiful rooms are offered by the spacious oasis with room for a total of nine people. It’s easy to spend hours watching the shadows of the gnarled olive trees or cork oaks, enjoying the view of the green hills, trying to discern the scent of the olive, lemon, orange and fig trees—or just sunbathing! Have we already mentioned that the sun plays the leading role in the charming original villa? By the way, its play of light and shadow is also reflected in the interior design: White and light colors form the basic tones, contrasting with the dark antique furniture—tables, chests and stools. The relaxed Mediterranean attitude to life sets in right away—promised.

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

  • The eclectic style: Whitewashed walls and bamboo ceilings, the great natural stones, beautiful rugs and kilims, a fine selection of antique furniture, handmade signature blue and white textiles and ceramics
  • There are a lot of terraces and seating areas—so there will be something for every sun or shade type.
  • The outdoor kitchen on the biggest terrace
  • The wonderful view from the hill to the gently rolling Mediterranean landscape
  • Being able to cool off with a jump into the pool and then drying off on one of the terraces
  • From the romantic rooms, you have direct access either to the garden or to a roof terrace.
  • The pretty and well-equipped white country kitchen—and so many wonderful places to have breakfast, lunch or dinner, it’s hard to choose ...

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • Each room has its own plus point, be it the Tower Suite, Garden Suite, Twin Room or Guest House—all of them have private bathrooms.
  • Children are welcome, baby bed and high chair on request (but beware: The stairs, swimming pool and roof terrace are not secured separately).
  • It’s worth going to one of the surrounding restaurants—where you’re more likely to meet locals than tourists.
  • There’s room for a maximum of nine guests. Three rooms are in the house itself; another one is at the back of the garden in a small guest house (with its own bathroom).
  • It’s 10 minutes to the towns of Loulé and São Brás de Alportel—authentic Portuguese villages offering everything for your daily needs; 15 to 20 minutes to Almancil and the beaches of Quinta do Lago
  • Faro is about 20 minutes by car, Tavira 40 minutes and Lisbon 2.5 hours away.
  • Cyclists or mountain bikers will be thrilled to be able to start their tour from here.
  • The rent also includes bed linen and towels (and a linen change after 3 or 4 days).
  • Dr. Bronner’s care products are available for guests in the bathrooms.
  • On request, many extras can be organized, such as massage, a yoga or pilates instructor, a private chef, tours or visits.
