Gloriette Guesthouse

Once upon a time, the aristocrats and bohemians of Bolzano enjoyed themselves up here on the Ritten during their summer holidays. They drank a glass or two of champagne, strolled along hiking trails, dined in small garden houses called “Glorietten” and celebrated themselves and life. Thoroughly enjoyable ways to pass the time, Andi and Julika Alber thought, and in 2019 they opened the Gloriette Guesthouse at an altitude of 1200 meters as the “place to be” for all lovers of beauty and advocates of sweet idleness. With their attention to detail, the young host couple provide for many a blissful hour with a great sense of beauty, brilliant ideas as well as with a relaxed and casual atmosphere. Cosmopolitans, those from Bolzano itself and mountain lovers all meet here for a Blauburgunder or Moscow Mule and a free serving of pure nature and mountain idyll with an extra portion of urban flair. The rooms and suites are spacious and modern, all have a terrace or private garden with fantastic views. A special highlight is certainly the spa area with the extravagant infinity pool where you float, no virtually swim out over the roof and straight towards the imposing mountain backdrop. Ingenious! And for those who long for urban amenities like theater, cinema, museums and the usual hustle and bustle, there’s a cable car right outside the door. It takes you down to lively Bolzano in just 12 minutes. And, fortunately, just as quickly back up to the Gloriette....

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

  • The hotel’s own motto, which is “celebrate life”—Julika and Andi have made it their business to anticipate and cater for their guests’ every wish
  • All rooms are spacious (between 30 and 50 square meters), feature designer furniture, and have a terrace or a private garden
  • The names of the room categories were chosen deliberately; they all have a reference to the history of Bolzano: “Summerfrisch”, “Stadtler” (reminiscent of the old town of Bolzano and the name of a traditional restaurant), “Lorenzi” (the Lorenzi night in August is celebrated in Bolzano in honor of the many shooting stars)
  • The luxurious “Kamin” suite (of course with a stately fireplace)
  • The historic Gloriette in the garden—very pretty to look at (and you’re allowed to sit in it, too)
  • The relaxed and unpretentious atmosphere
  • The cantilevered infinity pool with all-round panoramic view and unusual roof construction
  • The Gloriette Guesthouse is a family business: Mama Birgitt (also runs the Vögele Inn), son Andi (also a beer expert and sommelier) and his wife Julika put their heart and soul into taking care of their guests
  • New ideas constantly keep coming on how to make the guests’ time even more enjoyable
  • The architectural office noa*, which is responsible for the hotel design, was inspired by the regionally typical art nouveau villas and interpreted them in a new way. Local elements such as arches and hipped roofs were integrated into the design in a modern way

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • Breakfast is a blast (and included in the price): whether it’s pancakes and eggs with bacon, crunchy granola and homemade jam, moist cupcakes and hearty whole-grain bread, you get to feast your way through the entire lineup. For early risers and till-you-drop sleepers
  • Children from the age of 14 are welcome
  • In the in-house Ristorantino you can dine on alpine-Mediterranean delicacies prepared by top chefs Thomas and Martin
  • In the lounge bar you can stop for a drink after dinner. If you feel like a nightcap before going to bed, the Trust Bar is open, where you can mix yourself a drink (or two) late at night
  • There are various saunas (of course with a view of the magnificent mountain scenery), luxurious relaxation rooms and a modern fitness room
  • Bolzano with its beautiful old town, restaurants, cafes, stores and museums is only a short cable car ride away
  • You can leave your car at home—by train you can reach Bolzano without any stress and from there you can take the cable car to the Gloriette
  • The Rittencard is free of charge for guests and includes the use of the cable car and all regional public transport, free admission to 90 museums and castles, etc.

Sleeping arrangements and amenities

  • 25 rooms and suites

  • Yes
  • Own parking space in the underground garage
  • Dogs are welcome
