Altes Kutscherhaus
So often it’s the little things that give a place its soul. The historic coach house in the village of Wulkow in Brandenburg is teeming with special pieces that tell a story. The antique carpenter's table with the market scales in the kitchen; the old pew from the village church, which has found a new home in the hallway; the fruit crates converted into shelves; or the framed jute coffee sacks above the dining table – all these treasures discovered in antique shops and junkyards contribute to the authentic charm of the old house, which has been lovingly renovated and modernized. The result is a retreat for anyone seeking to escape the city and slowdown for a bit. There is nothing far and wide but peace and quiet. From the natural garden, you can gaze out over wide fields and meadows and let the pet sheep Mährlin, Mährle, Mähtte, and Mähggi show you how to remain calm no matter the circumstances. The pretty vacation home, in which old and new blend so harmoniously, can accommodate seven people and is ideal for a few relaxing days with the family or for getting together with good friends. Here, you can spend your days at a leisurely pace, with long breakfasts, long walks through enchanted forests, swimming and paddling in summer, and plenty of fresh air, good books, your favorite people, and the realistic chance to completely forget about time, whatever the season.
WHAT WE LIKE MOST:
- How yesterday and today come together here. In addition to clean-lined furniture and modern bathrooms in black and white, there are plenty of relics from days gone by.
- The window seat with its loads of cushions, a great place to sit with a cup of coffee and let your thoughts wander.
- The atmospheric staircase with its historic tile backsplash and curved wooden staircase.
- The Polaroid camera in the living room, which guests can use to capture their vacation moments.
- Spending balmy summer evenings on the terrace under the pergola, decorated with lanterns and vintage demijohns, which were once used to store wine.
- That the garden is equipped with many items for outdoor fun and entertainment: an inflatable children's pool, a gas grill including cartridge, a fire pit with firewood, a swing and a hammock, outdoor toys and carving tools; there are also two SUPs available.
- That there is such a fabulous starry sky here, best viewed from a blanket on the lawn in the garden, from which you can enjoy the premium view of the Milky Way and shooting.
- The beautiful old brick barn, which is actually the residence of tom cat Karlo, but also serves as a nice decoration.
- If you're in the mood for some unique experiences, you can book baking and cooking classes, or participate in crafting workshops through external providers – just ask your wonderful host Corinna! Or even have a mobile barrel sauna delivered to the garden.
- Take a trip to the village cinema in Lögow. It is hidden in an old half-timbered house and is not only the smallest cinema far and wide, but probably also the cutest in the world.
- Walk to the jetty between Villa Meehr and Hotel am Untersee bang on the frying pan and be sailed from the cutter to INSL, where there is a great beer garden.
