Anton und Cilli
Soft, natural tones, the scent of spruce wood, cozy fabrics from regional manufacturers—as soon as you step into one of Anton & Cilli’s four Stadl Lodges in the Allgäu region, you instantly feel at ease. It’s a little like being at home, but without the everyday routine. There are long, softly upholstered sofas inviting you to enjoy the view of apple trees, meadows, and mountains through the large windows. There’s a well-equipped kitchen, a private sauna, and a heated outdoor whirlpool tub on the large loggia. This hideaway on the Oberdorf hill above Obermaiselstein, which has been welcoming holiday guests since December 2025, was designed by hosts Andrea and Sebastian with relaxation and unwinding in mind. It was named after Andreas’ grandparents, who used to run their farm here and rent rooms to holidaymakers. The two Anton lodges are inspired by Grandpa Anton, the sociable one—open, generous, and with space for shared moments. The two Cilli lodges are a nod to Grandma Cilli; they are slightly smaller, single-story, and have a warm, cozy character. The newly built lodges reflect the hospitality, down-to-earth nature, warmth, and a sense of what’s important to the two hosts. The wood used to build them comes from the grandfather’s forest. Charred on the outside like an Allgäu barn, yet built in a modern architectural style, modernity and tradition create the perfect blend. Waking up here for the first time, it soon becomes clear that the people running this place value creating very special moments: While guests are still in bed, they quietly and unobtrusively deliver a breakfast basket directly to the lodge through a hatch. It’s precisely these little things that remain in mind as unforgettable holiday memories.
WHAT WE LIKE MOST:
- The mix of cozy and elegant, for example, in the form of velvet chairs from France combined with rustic benches
- How the four modern houses are built in terraces on the hillside and blend naturally into their surroundings
- Diving into the warm and bubbling whirlpool after a winter walk
- Each lodge has its own sauna. Oils from the region fill the room with natural scents and the large panoramic windows offer a view of the mountains.
- The breakfast basket, which is filled with regional products. It appears in your room in the morning as if by magic, holding sweet braided bread, Allgäu cheese, eggs from the farm around the corner, and surprises from the kitchen.
- Starting the day with morning coffee on the large loggia in mild temperatures and ending the day there, too—also a great place for talking shop about astronomy in the evening!
- The spacious garden with a fire pit for barbecue evenings, comfortable loungers, and a yoga platform where you can practice your asanas surrounded by nature
- Since the friendly hosts live on site with their four children, you can quickly get the best insider tips for the region.
GOOD TO KNOW:
- Lodge Anton accommodates two to six people over 71 square meters. There’s a primary bedroom, a children’s bedroom, and a sofa bed on the first floor. One floor up is a bathroom, a private sauna, and an outdoor whirlpool tub on the loggia, as well as a second loggia with a fire pit and seating in the basement.
- Lodge Cilli is 44 square meters in size and can accommodate two to four people (including two children, who can sleep in a sleeping alcove on the gallery). It’s on the ground floor, is slightly more compact, and also has a sauna. The loggia features an outdoor whirlpool tub, a fire pit, and comfortable seating.
- Children are welcome; guests traveling with very young children can request a high chair and travel cot.
- Each lodge has a well-equipped kitchen. If you don’t feel like cooking, there are also inns, restaurants, and even a small bar in the village.
- The Allgäu-Walser-Pass is included in the price of your stay and allows you to travel free of charge on public transport in the Oberallgäu region and as far as Kempten. Highlights include free admission to the Fischen adventure and family pool and the Sturmannshöhle cave!
- Walking and hiking trails, cross-country ski trails, and forests are right outside the front door. Fischen, where you can find everything you need for your daily needs, is a five-minute drive away, and Kempten is 30 minutes away by car.
- In winter, there’s fun to be had on the slopes: The Grasgehren ski resort with a magic carpet and ski school is just around the corner, and for the pros, the Fellhorn is only ten minutes away. And right in the village, you’ll find the perfect hill for sledding.
- In summer, there’s an outdoor program offering a great splash around in the Freibergsee lake, the Alpsee Coaster, a climbing forest, water skiing, wakeboarding, and stand-up paddling on the Inselsee lake, which also offers a floating climbing park.
- The nearest airport is Memmingen, about 50 minutes away by car, Friedrichshafen is about an hour and a half away, and Munich, Stuttgart, and Zurich are a good two hours away. The nearest train station is in Fischen, about five minutes away by car.
