Walking barefoot through the dewy grass in the morning, listening to the rustling of the leaves, enjoying the views of olive groves and vineyards and allowing your thoughts to wander: If there’s one place in this world that perfectly embodies the Italian philosophy of ‘dolce far niente’, or sweet idleness, then it’s the Agriturismo Corte Pravecchio. The boutique retreat, which opened in spring 2025, is located near the village of Valeggio sul Mincio in Veneto on a large vineyard not far from Lake Garda. It has everything you need to really immerse yourself in the moment and return to the simpler things in life: The vastness of nature all around you, located far away from the hustle and bustle and an understated design. The 18th century farmhouse has six suites that combine minimalist Nordic design, for example by Carl Hansen & Søn and Muuto, with unusual unique pieces. High-quality natural materials create a warm atmosphere. Inside and out, there are plenty of places that are perfect for celebrating slowness: The beautiful terraces, the outdoor pool framed by the green meadows, the reading corner in the restored common rooms—all predestined for relaxing or chatting over a glass of wine. Incidentally, this also works wonderfully at the ‘tavolata’, where guests gather around a long table to eat together—which can last well into the night. After all, there’s no greater luxury than doing things in peace and quiet. Or to put it in the words of hosts Mia and Ivan: “Let’s just live, the world is hectic enough.”

• How wonderful it is to experience an authentic farmhouse feeling while enjoying the comfort of a boutique hotel
• The modern interior, which was created in collaboration with the South Tyrolean design studio ruralurban, is well thought-out and clean-lined. Hemp, linen and oak wood meet asymmetrical Sideways sofas, accessories and furniture from Carl Hansen & Søn and Muuto.
• The idea of keeping the interior design deliberately clean and simple—aligned with a sustainable lifestyle
• The focus on partnerships with local producers and eco-friendly living—for example, sustainable hemp bricks were used in the restoration work.
• In the evening, we’re already looking forward to breakfast, which is prepared with regional flavors and organic ingredients: Freshly baked bread and pastries, homemade jams, local cheese, seasonal fruit from nearby farms and eggs from the owners’ happy hens.
• The cozy wine cellar, where Chardonnay, Corvina and Merlot from vines up to 70 years old are left to age. Twice a week there’s also a guided tour of the farm offered with wine tasting.
• The farm has been in the host family for generations and has now been taken over by Mia and Ivan. The couple’s warm hospitality immediately makes you feel welcome.
• The almost meditative moments you can experience here, watching pheasants and wild ducks at sunset or collecting wild herbs in the surrounding meadows
• Many adventures in nature await guests on 12 hectares of land: Forays among the vines, walks with the farm animals, experiencing the harvest or practicing yoga outdoors.

GOOD TO KNOW:

• The six rooms and suites are spacious and airy and can each accommodate two people. All have their own terrace, air conditioning and elegant bathroom with rain shower. 
• The Farmstay is reserved for adult guests.
• A ‘late riser breakfast’ is served until 12 noon.
• Corte Pravecchio also has a steam sauna and a chill-out area in the garden.
• Homemade specialties made from the farm’s own produce and selected regional products are served directly in your suite or can be enjoyed as a picnic or at the ‘tavolata’.
• The farm is surrounded by nature, but close to historic cities such as Verona, Mantua and the mill village of Borghetto. The Parco Giardino Sigurtà landscape park, the shores of Lake Garda, markets and trattorias are not far away either.
• Two natural lakes nearby are ideal for walks. 
• Active vacationers will also be happy here: Biking, hiking, canoeing, fishing or playing golf.
• The nearest airport is Verona, 21 kilometers away.
