Das Farmhaus

Jessica and Holger have made a name for themselves with the Mosel Chalets in the Rhineland-Palatinate wine village of Pommern. Their three vacation homes “Mosel”, “Mitte” and “Berg” on the longest southern slope of the river are popular with design fans and wine lovers alike. Now they have had an addition. With “Das Farmhaus”, the hosts have fulfilled their dream of a house for teams, groups and large families. There is room for up to 14 people in the six bedrooms which are modular to make the accommodation flexible. Modern luxury beds can be stacked on top of or next to each other, so that the question of who sleeps where can be renegotiated every evening. The house has been built in a pared back barn style, nevertheless, it comes with every luxury: A covered pool, a fitness and yoga room, as well as a sauna and hot tub make for a relaxing vacation, as does the home cinema for movie nights. That’s what Das Farmhaus is all about—being together. The large living and dining area with open kitchen is divided by wooden pillars. Its double height creates an airy feeling of space. It’s the ideal place to eat as a group, play games, chat and, of course, drink wine. The house is located at the top of the Moselle mountains, the Moselhöhen. Beautiful hiking trails and mountain bike tours through the vineyards start right in front of the house. Tastings and cellar tours with the local winegrowers give visitors an authentic experience of the regional wine culture. The hosts are perfect advisors—they are closely connected to the area and are happy to provide first-hand tips.

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

• The large dining table at the heart of the house, a place where everyone can come together, whether it’s a large family gathering, colleagues or friends.
• Design fans will be delighted by the modern architecture as well as furniture classics by Ray and Charles Eames or Artemide.
• Children are very welcome. This is reflected in playful details such as a slide next to the stairs. On request, the hosts also provide toys, highchairs and baby beds.
• The construction of Das Farmhaus is completely sustainable. The air-conditioning and underfloor heating are powered by a heat pump using solar electricity generated on the property.
• There is plenty of space in the multifunctional room. Whether it’s yoga, a workout or meditation—everyone can let off steam here. The house is also suitable for workshops and seminars in small groups.
• Many areas, such as the bedrooms or the spacious seating area with couch, can be reconfigured to the needs of guests in a few simple steps.
• The inviting garden with a fireplace for barbecue evenings—deck chairs provide a spot where you can enjoy the summer in one of the sunniest regions of Germany.
• The surroundings are a dream—vineyards as far as the eye can see, beautiful villages and in the valley the peaceful Moselle river.

GOOD TO KNOW:

• The kitchen leaves nothing to be desired—the two ovens, steamer, integrated extractor fan, large refrigerator and separate wine refrigerator mean you are well equipped for preparing a large feast.
• No time for shopping? You can arrange to have the refrigerator and wine fridge stocked in advance.
• A vacation starter kit awaits all guests, containing useful items such as dishwasher tabs, and pasta and pesto.
• For evening ambience there is a fireplace which is glazed on three sides.
• The accommodation is also suitable for people with limited mobility. One bedroom and one bathroom are wheelchair friendly and most areas are at ground level.
• A motorboat is available for tours on the Moselle river.
• Pillow menu—guests can choose from a variety of pillows.
• Digital TV programs and streaming services are available in the private cinema with big screen and high-end surround sound system.
• Dogs are welcome at Das Farmhaus. If needed, a set with bowls, towel and dirt mat can be provided.
• The house can be booked by the week from Sunday to Sunday or also from Thursday to Sunday with an extra charge of 10 percent.
