Denharten

Hosts Theresa and Damian Hartmann call their boutique guesthouse in Rottal near Tann in Lower Bavaria “Agriturismo Bavarian style”. The traditional 19th-century farmstead – a yard enclosed by brick buildings on all four sides – is surrounded by wide fields and meadows where poppies and cornflowers bloom in summer and conveys the authentic charm of the region. A piece of living history, yet at the same time a place where a fresh wind blows and which is open to the world. If you like houses with history, you will love it here. Its extensive restoration has earned the listed farmstead several awards. Inside, you can take a seat at the long wooden table under vaulted ceilings, admire wall paintings from the time of construction that have been carefully uncovered layer by layer, and delight in the ornate carvings on the wooden staircase to the upper floor. There, three unique rooms with wooden floors and vintage furniture, decorated in delicate natural and pastel tones, await guests. Whether you retreat to your room with a book, relax in the cottage garden listening to the buzzing of the bees, or cycle through the Alpine landscapes, Denharten is the ideal place to take a deep breath and make time for the things that matter. Of course, this also includes celebrating unforgettable parties. So if you're thinking of saying “I do” or celebrating a momentous occasion, you've found the perfect place.

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

  • The subtle interior design with white plastered walls and carefully selected vintage furniture, which shows off the old walls to their best advantage.
  • How well the color scheme of muted earth tones and soft pastels works. It creates a cozy atmosphere, while the fresh flower decorations add lively accents.
  • The modern en-suite bathrooms with walk-in showers (one also has a freestanding bathtub!) and large tiles are perfect for spending time relaxing.
  • All guests are welcome in the parlor, with its tiled stove and library. It's a wonderful place to read or engage in conversation.
  • The hosts work with local partners, which means healthy ingredients from the region, natural toiletries in the bathrooms, and events such as herb walks, which can be booked through small, friendly companies.
  • The large garden is full of fruit trees, herbs, and flowers. From here, the mesmerizing view sweeps over fields and forests.
  • In the cooler months, you can relax wonderfully in the sauna in the courtyard.
  • Taking a break with friends – that is the vision for Denharten. Informal, warm, with a sense of beauty and goodness.

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • The guest house has three double rooms with en-suite bathrooms. One of the deluxe double rooms has a balcony and a bathtub in addition to the shower, and the other deluxe double room is equipped with a small fireplace
  • The room price includes an à la carte breakfast with vegetarian options.
  • The garden has a fire pit and picnic facilities– Theresa will put together a lovely basket; blankets are provided.
  • Theresa works with her friend Johanna, a master florist and former restaurateur, to develop great events for guests: weddings, culinary events and tastings, photo shoots, retreats, readings, concerts, or offsites for small groups. They work with the best local partners and a small, dedicated team; the food is always prepared with the best organic ingredients. The renovated barn can accommodate up to 80 guests.
  • Twice a year, in the spring and winter, a market is held on the farm.
  • The region between the Inn and Salzach rivers combines gentle Alpine landscapes with cultural diversity. In Burghausen, you can visit the longest castle in the world, and in Tittmoning, Braunau am Inn, and Obernberg am Inn, you can stroll through historic old towns.
  • Exciting for active vacationers – here you can spend a lot of active time outdoors: on the dense network of cycling and hiking trails, splashing around in clear lakes or in the fantastic natural pool in Mitterskirchen, or even hitting a few balls at the Bella Vista Golf Park in Bad Birnbach.
