Design hotel Gius
Glück – happiness or good luck – seems to run like a golden thread through the history of the Gius family from the idyllic wine village of Kaltern in South Tyrol. Grandma Maria Glück ran the village bakery – appropriately named Glück – until 1965, when her great heart for hospitality prompted her to realize her long-cherished dream: a guesthouse of her own. Today, under the management of daughter Gerda and granddaughter Vera, the Gius Guesthouse has evolved into a four-star hotel (with five-star flair). The two ladies live up to the family name and offer guests everything the heart desires for holiday happiness. They have inherited not only the love and passion for hospitality from Grandma Glück, but also her sense of beauty and her excellent taste. In addition to the hotel with stylish suites and a huge cozy terrace overlooking Lake Kaltern, there are enchantingly furnished boutique apartments in the village – private retreats with lively village life right on the doorstep. And the two are always conjuring up new vacation highlights from their inexhaustible bag of tricks: you can hike to the family's own snug alpine hut (with a ready-packed breakfast backpack) and spend the night, you can roar through the countryside on a Vespa courtesy of the hotel, feast on South Tyrolean cuisine night after night on a dinner hopping tour, or spend the night under the open sky on the roof terrace and gaze up at the endless array of stars. Sparkling moments of happiness for really lucky people.
WHAT WE LIKE MOST:
- A long family tradition, a lot of passion, cordiality, and a good sense of style – all the ingredients for an all-round happy vacation experience
- The high-quality furnishings of the rooms and apartments: wide wooden floorboards, elegant textiles, a mixture of new and old, modern and traditional – all lovingly selected and uniquely arranged
- All hotel suites and apartments have a terrace or balcony and their own kitchenette, some have private whirlpools, pools, and saunas.
- The huge roof terrace at Hotel La Residenza with sun beds, sofa corners and a breakfast area, with a fantastic view of Lake Kaltern and the beautiful landscape
- The private, cozy terraces in the apartments La Diffusa, with a view over the roofs and to the mountains
- The very, very friendly staff
- The cooperation with other hotels in the area – for those who’d like a change of scenery after a few days: mix and match mountains, lakeside, village, and city in any combination you’d like
- The concept of "Alberto Diffuso" ("scattered hotel"): rooms, reception and restaurants are not located in the same building, but rather the village itself becomes the guests’ home away from home: the alternative hotel concept breathes life into sites that might otherwise remain unsused, putting vacation apartments into an old metal forge or a historic manor house, for example.
- If you choose an apartment, hotel services are included – breakfast, antipasti in the afternoon, wellness.
- The pretty café "la Nonnaglück" has all kinds of culinary delights and a small boutique.
