Gutshof Fredenwalde
Old trees sway in the wind, somewhere the soft chirping of crickets can be heard; otherwise, a soothing sense of calm prevails. Gut Fredenwalde is nestled into a gently rolling landscape, surrounded by an expansive park – a place that feels more reminiscent of Tuscany than Brandenburg. And yet Berlin is only about an hour away, at the edge of the Schorfheide-Chorin Biosphere Reserve. Between 2016 and 2020, the ensemble was carefully restored in line with heritage preservation guidelines. From the outside, the baroque elegance of the manor house is striking; inside, the apartments are furnished in a skilful blend of old and new. Antiques meet selected design classics, fieldstone and brick contrast with larch wood and raw concrete. The accommodations are spread across several buildings, each following its own idea of retreat and togetherness. In the former stable, ten micro-apartments were created for two guests each – pared down, clear in design, with a small pantry kitchen. Those looking for more space will find it in the holiday apartments located in the gatehouse, the granary, or the coach house. Every apartment has been individually designed and sensitively attuned to the historic fabric.Particularly spacious is the “Schäferei” apartment, offering four double bedrooms, an additional communal room under the roof, and a private terrace where the day can begin slowly – and just as slowly come to an end. There is also room for gathering and special occasions. The communal space SPACE is ideal for celebrations, workshops, or long shared tables, while the event room in the former stable lends itself to seminars and yoga retreats. At least as much care was devoted to the park as to the buildings themselves. Paths lead past two ponds, benches appear exactly where they are needed, and meadows invite guests to play, read, or simply do nothing at all. Almost without trying, everyone finds their own personal favorite spot here.
WHAT WE LIKE MOST:
- Loft meets country house: the successful architectural mix of old and new, wood and concrete, vintage and design classics can be admired in the vacation and communal rooms
- An architectural jewel has been preserved for the region thanks to the listed conversion
- Gerswalde is also known as "Berlin's 13th district". So there is no shortage of interesting courtyard and art projects in the area
- Sustainability is very important to the hosts, who want to make a contribution to using the available resources sparingly
- Enjoy spending time together: there is plenty of space in the spacious vacation apartments for communal meals and games evenings
- In summer, life takes place outside. Heated pool, tennis court, volleyball court and fire pit pave the way for outdoor activities in the estate park
- The surrounding area is a dream: whether swimming in the crystal-clear Sabinensee, horse riding, hiking, cycling or canoeing, you'll never get bored.
- The sauna and loungers in the garden offer relaxation.
- Guests can harvest herbs, fresh organic vegetables and sugary strawberries directly from the raised beds in the garden, and in the fall there is fresh fruit directly from the fruit trees in the orchard
