Klara Rooms
The village of Trittenheim lies almost like an island in one of the bends of the Moselle. One look over the vineyards on the tranquil slopes across the river makes it clear why connoisseurs in particular feel at home here. Beautiful views, great landscapes, excellent wines, culinary delights and charming towns and villages in the immediate vicinity—there is plenty to enjoy here. Ramona Ludwig and her husband thought so too, which is why they renovated one of the oldest houses in Trittenheim and converted it into an inn. The result is the Klara Rooms—with two designer flats, a studio on the top floor and rooms for communal use. The inn was named after Klara, the friendly elderly lady who lived in the house for many years. During the renovation of this gem, the owners paid particular attention to both sustainable construction and appealing architecture. They used wood, stone and steel both inside and out, and the outcome is a building with a rustic, yet simple and modern design. Stone walls, partly plastered with lime, partly exposed, are a vivid demonstration of the traditional construction method and exude a rustic coziness, contrasted by light wooden floors, furniture in delicate shapes and textiles in shades of grey. This combination creates a sense of simultaneous lightness and earthiness. Ramona affectionately calls her holiday resort a "house with 300 years of history"—that history can still be felt in all of the nooks and crannies, and its future in the modern comforts.
WHAT WE LIKE MOST:
- The successful combination of rustic and modern elements: slate walls and oak floorboards, lime plaster and mineral colors, and the modern minimalist furnishings
- Special details such as the beautifully refurbished front door
- Selected design pieces such as the beds from Robuust Amsterdam, furniture from Haydesign, textiles from Linum
- The beautiful wooden strut windows
- The communal room with tables and a kitchenette where you can plan your day in peace or bring it to an end together
- The idyllic location on the Middle Moselle, surrounded by vineyards
- When the weather is nice, a small, lovingly decorated forecourt with a bench invites you to catch the sun's rays.
- The hostess lives in her husband's parents' house opposite and is happy to share her hiking and restaurant tips.
GOOD TO KNOW:
- There are two design flats, a studio attic flat and communal rooms ¬ so why not come with friends or the whole family?
- Just around the corner you’ll find a bakery, a butcher, a small grocery shop and two wine taverns.
- For those interested in outdoor activities,, cycling or hiking along the picturesque Moselle is highly recommended; for adrenaline junkies, there are challenging mountain bike trails in the surrounding hills.
- Bikes and equipment can be parked safely; there are lockers for helmets, poles, and shoes in the communal room and there is even a small bike workshop available.
- There is a boules court next to the house; balls can be borrowed from the house
- On the Zummethöhe across the river, the panoramic outdoor pool offers a fantastic view over Trittenheim and the Moselle valley in summer
- Fabulous villages and towns are nearby: Koblenz, Cochem, Beilstein, Bernkastel and Trier and the city of Luxembourg are each an easy day trip.
- If that's not why you're here, you should know that the region offers excellent wines from top vineyards and a varied cuisine, from traditional Moselle-Franconian dishes at the inn to culinary highlights in Michelin and Gault & Millau rated restaurants.
- The Laurentius Chapel in the middle of the vineyards or the Neumagen sundial across the Moselle are definitely worth a visit.
