Hotel, Austria, Salzburger Land

Landhaus Steiner

When it's cold outside and the mountains are deep in snow, there's nothing cozier than a crackling fireplace. That’s what awaits you at the Steiner house after a snowy day in the fresh winter air. And in the summer the Salzburger Land is pure bliss: a colorful sea of flowers in sunny alpine meadows, hiking trails through green forests up to the peaks. Every season is beautiful at this small, family-run bed and breakfast in Altenmarkt in Pongau, just 40 minutes from Salzburg. The country house has been in the family since the 15th century ¬ with progenitor Gottlieb on the coat of arms. And because the Steiners are very proud of their family history, the guest rooms were named after personalities from the family chronicle ¬ Maria, Theresia, Gottlieb, Gabriel. They are pretty, in timeless country house style with an alpine touch and with much attention to detail: beautiful ceramics and fresh bouquets of wildflowers adorn old farm tables and chairs. The mix of modern coziness and the farmhouse furniture from times long past, in traditional materials such as wood, stone, linen and loden in soft tones radiate peace and harmony. The spacious vacation apartment Apartchalet Jakob, just a few steps through the garden and with a magnificent view of the mountains, offers plenty of room to stretch out and relax. Another feel-good area: the indoor pool with Finnish sauna. Large windows look out over the garden, with its comfortable loungers where you enjoy the sun with a good book. In the colder seasons, there are countless winter sports activities in the idyllic mountain village, from skiing to freeriding and snowboarding to romantic horse-drawn sleigh rides. In the summer you can enjoy the 195 km of hiking trails and 480 km of cycling routes. Or would you rather go horseback riding, golfing or swimming in one of the natural mountain lakes? Here in Salzburger Land you can experience the best of vacations in every season!
