Super-comfortable beds, the grey, white and partly black colour scheme with a coloured wall for good measure in between and lots of wood, plus pleasant lighting from Artemide all make you feel relaxed and happy. Sustainability is highly relevant to the hotel operators – products from small Hamburg companies are used and sold in the in-house store. Sustainable and locally-produced soaps and shampoos from “Stop the Water” are available in the rooms, any unnecessary packaging is avoided, the waste consistently separated with waste separation stations in every hallway. If you now refrain from using take-away boxes and simply eat directly at the cafés and restaurants in the Schanze district, you’ll be supporting the commitment to sustainability that the hotel operators, the friendly Domann family and their team, abide by. A good night’s sleep will be the probable reward. Whether for the next big family party or a visit to the jazz festival – the small design hotel with a flower-lined mini terrace is the ideal place to stay.

• You get to know the most interesting neighbourhoods of the city based on the room names.
• Sustainability is very important, but nothing here looks like a health food store.
• Drinks and products come from Hamburg companies.
• The location is at the heart of the Schanze district, but is still very quiet.
• The option to check out late on Sundays – for those wanting to go dancing till the early hours and carry on at the fish market a little later on, it’s wonderful to know that you don’t have to leave your hotel just a few hours later.

GOOD TO KNOW:

• The Domann family and their team offer their guests a small but delicious – inexpensive –breakfast with a variety of jams made by the owner herself, from classic strawberry jam to creations like pineapple batida de coco or carrot-apple-ginger jam.
• MY PLACE Hotel has three floors, and there are three room categories available here: the Standard rooms are on the ground level and facing the street, the Classic rooms, all of which bear names of other Hamburg districts worth seeing, are based on the first to the third floor, and the two suites (Blankenese and Elbphi), both with a living and bathing area complete with a bathtub, are located on the third floor.
• Children are welcome from age six and upwards. 
• There’s a small common room with (free) coffee and tea, crockery and cutlery . 
• Perfect starting point for nightlife and for discovering Hamburg’s attractions. 
• Not just rooms can be booked, but so can three different packages, for two people and three nights each, on the subjects of taking photographs in Hamburg, being a tourist in Hamburg and driving in a VW Bus through Hamburg.
• Wonderful cafés in the immediate vicinity, e.g. Café unter den Linden
• Great inexpensive snack bars are not far away, including Korean, Greek, Indian, Turkish, French, plus Palatinate cuisine and fish – the variety is immense
• Short walking distance to S-Bahn and bus
• 20 minutes’ walk down to the Elbe to watch the ships, hear the cry of seagulls, feel the wind in your face.
• Those travelling by car can reserve parking spaces in an underground garage for 12 euros per day.
• Two parks for running in (or for just sitting on a bench to enjoy the nature) are nearby
• When their guests arrive by train the owners donate one euro for alternating good causes.
