Pastorie Balegem

Sturdy and welcoming, the neo-romantic brick building stands there as if its two wings were open arms warmly greeting guests. Host Mieke has lovingly renovated the former pastor’s house, built in 1874, after a long period of neglect, and has helped it find its new purpose. Found in Flemish Ardennes, the elegant bed and breakfast has three rooms, a fantastic breakfast, and an inviting garden. The entrance to the spacious reception hall with its antique tiles and wooden staircase has a stately feel. From here guests have access to a living room with fireplace(!) and a dining room with a long table for breakfast, leisurely leafing through magazines, playing games or planning the next excursion. The garden is also a dream with its spacious sun terrace. Here you can find the perfect spot to relax with the first morning coffee, for example. On the upper floors, there are three spacious rooms with very nice bathrooms. The style is pared back but inviting and very comfortable. The house is run with an informal and loving touch. The Pastorie Balegem is a place that manages to make you feel like a guest and completely at home at the same time.

• The stylish, simple decor with great visual highlights—Mieke has a knack for colors, shapes, materials, and textures.
• The spacious and bright rooms with high ceilings and large panoramic windows
• The mega-comfortable extra-long beds
• The beautiful garden with sun terrace
• The attentive hostess, who will also cater for special requests. Side note—an excellent breakfast is not a special request but comes as a luxurious standard.

GOOD TO KNOW:

• Children up to two years stay free of charge; a baby bed is available on request.
• It’s possible to take an excursion to one of the surrounding cities. The medieval, dreamy Ghent (approx. 15 kilometers) or Bruges (around 65 kilometers) are easy to reach from here, as well as the national capital Brussels (around 40 kilometers) or the hip port city of Antwerp (around 75 kilometers).
• Nearby, the French restaurants ‘t Parksken and Bistro Onder den Toren are worth a visit.
• E-bikes can be rented on site for cycling tours in the Ardennes.
• For parties or vacations with family and friends the entire house can be rented.
• A nice touch—all the rooms have an honesty bar and coffee and tea facilities.
