Holiday apartment, Germany, Berlin

Poets Place

When you step through the door of this spacious apartment in the heart of Kreuzberg, the first thing that catches your eye is the color scheme. In the open-plan kitchen and dining area, royal blue, matte black, and rust red create exciting contrasts, while the living room’s green couch is highlighted by elements in pastel pink and yellow. These tones are repeated in the bedrooms and complemented by textiles and artwork that match the color scheme. The calm and clarity that the apartment exudes in this beautiful Art Nouveau building proves how perfectly the colors work together. This magnificent accommodation was designed by one of the hosts himself: Nils is an architect and he and his brother Yannis have chosen the interior with great care and, above all, a really good eye. Their passion for rooms with their own unique character is evident throughout. It creates the special atmosphere of the 120m² apartment, which can accommodate eight guests in six rooms. The two renovated the old apartment themselves, built furniture, and selected art, lighting, and decorations with great attention to detail. The handmade furniture and special pieces found in special places give it a stylish yet cozy look. You don't just spend the night here, you feel at home. After an exciting day of city culture, you'll be happy to come back, take a deep breath, and plan your next round of Berlin adventures, which are waiting right outside the front door thanks to the great location. The hosts' mission is: “That you leave inspired, recharged, and a little happier than when you arrived.” The plan should work out easily here.

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

  • The interior of the designer apartment – quite extraordinary, designed with a mix of Berlin charm, colors, and function, much of it handmade.
  • The generously planned living and dining areas offer enough space for all guests.
  • The special details that can be discovered throughout the apartment: the narrow pendant lights in the bedroom, soap dispensers and toothbrush cups in lemon yellow, or the elegant dark parquet flooring.
  • The walk-in shower, designed with large tiles in a terrazzo look.
  • The fact that the “poet family” have backgrounds in architecture and construction, which is hardly surprising when you see this extraordinary residence
  • The pretty ceramics, which make dining together even more enjoyable.
  • The apartment radiates so much warmth and tranquility that you always want to stay longer than originally planned.
  • The extremely comfortable corduroy sofa in the living room – not only a design highlight, but also the best place to relax (filled with new impressions and perhaps a few favorite items from the neighborhood).
  • The personal and warm communication with the hosts. You feel welcome and appreciated, and you also get good tips.
  • The mix of vibrant Kreuzberg on your doorstep and a relaxed place of well-being to get together with friends or family.
  • That many great places are within walking distance: Viktoria Park is right outside the front door, the Bergmannkiez neighborhood with its small shops and cafés is very close by, and Tempelhofer Feld is within walking distance, so you can just set off and see where the day takes you.

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • The apartment has 4 double beds, one of which is on a built-in mezzanine and can be reached by stairs.
  • Perfect for families: the rooms are spacious and everything you need for a stay with children is provided (just ask the hosts if you need equipment for the little ones).
  • The kitchen is equipped with everything you need if you want to cook for yourself: stove, oven, microwave, and freezer.
  • There is only one bathroom, but since the shower, sink, and toilet are separate, it can be used by three guests at the same time.
  • As the apartment is on the ground floor and there are no steps, it is easily accessible.
  • The apartment is located in a former shop, and the rooms face partly onto the street and partly onto the backyard, but the windows facing the street are fitted with privacy screens, creating a cozy retreat.
  • On hot days, fans ensure that the apartment stays nice and cool.
  • Whether restaurants, cafés, or public transportation—everything is within a few minutes' walking distance.
