Hotel Post Bezau

There are those vacations when you simply want to treat yourself and be pampered—where relaxation is at the top of the agenda and, preferably, your every wish is catered for. The Hotel Post Bezau in the Bregenzerwald is just the right place for time-out. It is run by natural cosmetics pioneer Susanne Kaufmann and her family in the fifth generation. The focus here is entirely on beauty, relaxation and well-being. A large spa area, simple modern rooms and a restaurant offer everything a spa and well-being lover could wish for. The hotel is managed by hotel director Stephanie Rist in the spirit of the Kaufmann family. Developing it from a hotel to a wellness resort was also a family affair: As architects, Susanne Kaufmann’s father Leopold and brother Oskar Leo Kaufmann played a decisive role in designing the hotel and were always careful to strike a balance between tradition and modernity. The old building in typical regional style retained its traditional charm and was extended by an annex. This includes space for the snow-white spa and the sauna, but also for rooms and the restaurant. The pared-back building with its wooden facade blends harmoniously into the surroundings. It opens onto the sun deck with pool and offers a wide view over the Bregenzerwald. The Kaufmanns also gave the hotel rooms a makeover. Bright rooms combine a purist design, partly with historic wooden beams. The philosophy of pausing and constantly evolving is lived out on all levels of the house. And that certainly makes for the absolute feeling of well-being: As a guest, you feel you’re in the best hands—everything has been thought through, developed with passion, and carefully and meticulously executed. Beneficial time-out in a modern but traditional house, which you can simply treat yourself to.

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

  • The nice surprise—from the outside the hotel appears traditional, from the inside it shows itself to be distinctly modern.
  • The location is unbeatable: The Bregenzerwald lies at the guests’ feet in all its beauty.
  • The warmth with which guests are received and cared for—a typical family business. Hospitality is obviously in the genes.
  • The use of natural materials such as wood, leather and Bregenz linen creates a homely atmosphere; the clear and pared-back furnishings allow guests to relax after their treatments.
  • Holistic programs for body and soul, rounded off by modern and daily changing menus in the in-house restaurant
  • The wellness area in the three-story bathhouse is unbeatable with a 16-meter-long indoor pool, three saunas and a steam bath; there are special daily sauna infusions with beneficial additives and nurturing peeling rituals.
  • The brine pool is heated even in winter. At 36 degrees Celsius, it’s enjoyable even in cold weather with a view of the Bregenzerwald.
  • Sustainability is important to the host family: For example, they don’t use plastic packaging and have developed their own sustainable cleaning products.
  • In addition to fresh ingredients, old preservation techniques such as preserving and canning are still practiced in the kitchen. They make the full board varied and diverse.
