Recharge House Agger

The wind whips the waves, the clouds loom low—suddenly, the sky burst wide open: What could be more awe-inspiring to watch than that? The natural spectacle that’s so typical of the Danish North Sea coast seems almost staged at the Recharge House in Agger. That’s exactly what architect Søren Sarup had in mind: A house with an omnipresent view of nature, its proximity to the water, wind, open sky and natural light. Together with the owners Anders Petersen and Rasmus Johnsen, who are also builders, a modern architect’s house has been created here that lives up to its name. Come and recharge on the Danish North Sea coast, where floor-to-ceiling windows offer a view of nature . With Flat Lake just a few meters away, it’s about 600 meters to the North Sea. And right next door is Thy National Park with its breathtaking scenery. The transition from outside to inside feels seamless, the view bringing the lake indoors. It’s amazing how quickly a sense of peace and harmony sets in. Inside, a modern, minimalist-inspired interior with an urban touch exudes cozy comfort. A great contrast to the wild nature outside! The owners have also thought about sustainability. The understated furnishings, which are real eye-catchers by the way, come from Whelers, a sustainable design furniture brand from Denmark. An absolute highlight is the Green Sauna with its huge window front facing the wild national park. Relaxation pure. And no matter which way the wind blows, you’ll always find a sheltered spot on the surrounding wooden decks.

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

  • The wonderfully clear-cut, open and airy architecture; colors and shapes reflecting nature coordinate perfectly with each other.
  • Particularly striking: The dynamic facade design of the ensemble consisting of the main house and the annex, accommodating a whole 140 square meters of cedar shingles. Over time, they will patina to a silver-grey color blending in with their natural surroundings.
  • All bedrooms and living rooms are oriented to the lake side, with a beautiful view of the water.
  • The dining area features a cozy fireplace with a window to view the dancing flames.
  • Waking up in the primary bedroom in the main house with the spectacular backdrop of Flat Lake, you might just feel like spending all day here!
  • The fantastic open kitchen, glazed on both sides
  • Anders and Rasmus—two really friendly landlords who are always there to help and advise.
  • The high-quality interior with wonderful seating areas and the level of detail in the kitchen and bathroom, providing everything you need.
  • Thy National Park on your doorstep: A wild and romantic seascape in the northwest of Denmark with lots of dunes, heaths and clean lakes

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • As it’s divided into the main house and annex, it’s suitable for couples and families or a small group of close friends.
  • In the annex, there are two more bedrooms and a bathroom, offering you the perfect retreat.
  • The bathroom in the main house leads to a secluded garden shower out on the deck.
  • High-quality bedding from Bedre Naetter, OEKO-TEX-certified
  • The small fishing village of Agger enjoys a unique location by the sea, a lake, forest and fjord; the fine white sandy beaches, where amber can also be found, are amazing.
  • Bed linen and towels can be booked as an optional extra.
  • The Danish west coast is not called Cold Hawaii for nothing: It’s considered to be one of the best local surfing spots.
  • Activities: All kinds of water sports like kite- or windsurfing, kayaking and fishing; otherwise trekking, walking or mushroom picking; for culture lovers a day trip to Aarhus or Aalborg is recommended.
  • The Recharge House is available for weekly rental.
