Seeblick Gronau
The Gronau Dreiländersee or Drilandsee stretches over 28 hectares in the green Münsterland region between North Rhine-Westphalia, Lower Saxony and the Netherlands. Directly on the shore is the Hotel Seeblick with its vacation apartments and a vacation home in Finnish cabin style. The name says it all: From the huge roof terraces in the upper apartments you have a wonderful view of the water. It all started with a restaurant that hosts Ruth and Josef Kleideiter opened here about 30 years ago—with a great lake view, too, of course! They ran it with so much passion and fun enjoyment that they gradually added ten vacation apartments and a house. The love of hosting host spark was also passed onto over daughter Lorena. She studied hotel management and now, together with her boyfriend Ralph, she adds new ideas and a breath of fresh air to her parents’ business. Thus, at the beginning of 2023, the family, together with the renowned South Tyrolean design office NOA, gave all the vacation apartments a design makeover. As in all their projects, the architects worked a lot with wood adding unexpected thoughtful details, such as in the cozy sofa corners, which are set off by hanging glass lamps. A shelf serves as a room divider to the dining area with open kitchen, opening to the window front so that no daylight is lost. A wooden staircase leads to the bedrooms under the roof, where the sloping walls create a particularly homely atmosphere. A desk offers the opportunity to open a laptop if you must. That is, if you can find the time—besides looking at the lake, cycling around and tasting Ruth’s and Josef’s homemade cakes. If you don’t feel like making your own coffee on vacation, you can have breakfast at the hotel. They also serve lunch and dinner à la carte. Of course, you can also create your own meals as the vacation home and apartments have well-equipped kitchens with convivial cooking islands. By the way, visitors can confidently put their vacation planning in the hands of their hosts. The Kleideiter family know the region like the back of their hand and offer a colorful array of experiences that guests can book via the website. The offerings range from culinary bike tours and picnics on the lake to beach yoga brunches.
WHAT WE LIKE MOST:
- The freshly designed vacation apartments and the house are a dream for friends of modern design. Clever solutions by the architectural office NOA from South Tyrol create a unique atmosphere.
- The handmade furniture from Italy and Belgium exudes restrained elegance.
- Whether vacation apartment or house, each accommodation has its own terrace or large roof terrace with a view over the lake.
- The vacation apartments are part of the hotel, but they also offer a lot of autonomy. This makes them a perfect place for individualists.
- Great when traveling with extended family or friends, as different apartments or even the vacation house plus one or more apartments can be combined.
- The friendly owners are always enhancing their aparthotel and are also committed to the region and soft tourism.
- There’s a family atmosphere in the hotel, where you immediately feel at home.
GOOD TO KNOW:
- The morning breakfast will make everyone happy, as there are also vegan and vegetarian dishes available.
- Dining with a program: Garden concert with buffet, candlelight dinner or birthday breakfast—the hosts enjoy planning special occasions.
- The location directly at the lake invites you to swim, sail, windsurf or SUP paddle.
- Those who prefers to travel on land: There’s a well-developed network of bike paths (4500 kilometers!! But we are in Münsterland after all ...). There are plenty of great destinations: Moor and heath, nature reserves, small villages, farm cafes. And sometimes you don't even notice that you’re already over the border in Holland...
