Trevarefabrikken
Pizza, parties, yoga, a little R & R – all in an old Norwegian lumber mill? Sounds strange, but actually it's pretty classy. For a long time, Trevarefabrikken in Henningsvær, the most famous fishing village on the Lofoten Islands, stood empty, possibly just waiting to become what it is today – a center for cultural diversity. Where wood was once processed, an extraordinary, holistic holiday concept awaits. The five rooms, named he Carpenter Room, he Carpenter’s Library, he Paintroom, he Loft, and he Big Loft, are between 22 and 45m² can sleep 2-4 or 4-6 guests. Original details of the factory’s interior were deliberately preserved in the design. In the Paintroom and the Big Loft there are even beds in the former lift shafts. Traces of the past are everywhere – old roof tiles, ash wood floors, exposed concrete ceilings, handmade wooden details, large industrial windows ... It is precisely these relics from earlier times that give the accommodation its incredible charm. Here and there are old machines from way back when – random details that round out the modern and hip industrial style perfectly. The extraordinary hotel includes a pizzeria, a café, the Hermetikken restaurant, an art club, a sauna, and a wine bar. The Trevarefabrikken organizes festivals, readings, concerts, dance nights, or yoga sessions, and much more, bringing together dining, recreation, wellness, art and culture sublimely. And all this against a natural backdrop that never fails to leave you speechless.
WHAT WE LIKE MOST:
- The fabulous location directly by the sea, with the world's best sunsets
- Sauna de luxe – while in the sauna you have a fantastic view of the Lofoten Wall, afterwards you can simply dive into the arctic Vestfjord.
- Lots of wood, lots of stone and super-comfortable beds dominate the rooms on the second and third floors; they offer views of the fishing village Henningsvær and the imposing Henningsvær mountains – sensational!
- Rumor has it that the Trevarefabrikken has the best pizza in Norway; it comes fresh from the wood-fired oven and is prepared according to a recipe that is more than 100 years old and came to Norway from southern Italy via Uruguay and was perfected here; simply said, guests shouldn’t miss out on it!
- At the Hermetikken you can have a relaxed coffee or beer, or try the brunch with delicious blueberry pancakes, or vegan burgers - sometimes there’s also live music, art exhibitions, or festivals.
GOOD TO KNOW:
- The small breakfast is included.
- Lofoten is one of the most scenic corners of the world, with breathtaking mountain landscapes, sparkling fjords and not to forget the Northern Lights (from September to March), and in summer the incredible midnight sun – the perfect place to cross a few things off your bucket list ...
- The idyllic fishing village of Henningsvær is known for its diverse cultural scene; hipsters meet local fishermen, art lovers meet party animals and the internationally renowned KaviarFactory showcases contemporary art, with works by Ai Weiwei, Olafur Eliasson or Yoko Ono.
- You can experience Norway's natural beauty on a sea eagle safari, on fishing trips, on dog sleds, skiing, surfing or climbing, and much more.
- A trip to Svolvær is worthwhile: the smallest city in the world and the largest city on the Lofoten Islands has many museums, restaurants and great boutiques to offer.
