Villa Breitenberg
A Munich stage and event manager and a renowned chef team up to transform an aging country doctor's villa into a hotel. The result is a true vacation paradise. There it stands, in the midst of the fairytale Bavarian Forest: the beautiful and imposing Villa Breitenberg with its impressive granite facade, surrounded by enchanting forests, meadows, valleys and hills. The rooms are all furnished with a mix of beautiful old and modern furniture. Creaky wooden floorboards, original boxed windows, and crooked doors fit in perfectly and generously exude charm. A fantastic place to say goodbye to the hum-drum of everyday life for a while and bask in a thoroughly relaxing feel-good time. Hiking, nature-watching, gazing at the fantastic starry sky and feasting on wonderful delicacies served in summer by the hosts at the large guest table in the garden. Every time of day, every type of weather, and every season has its own special nuance. Or as the warm-hearted hosts say: "In Villa Breitenberg it’s most beautiful in spring. And in summer. And in the fall. And in winter." Truer words were never spoken.
WHAT WE LIKE MOST:
- The ivy-covered, stately villa from 1904 in the style of Viennese modernism – unusual for the Bavarian Forest
- The beautiful historical details like box windows and coffered doors, high ceilings, and creaking wooden floorboards.
- The elegant mixture of old and modern pieces of furniture
- The view of enchanted meadows and forests, the valleys of the Mühlviertel and the Bohemian Forest mountain range
- The spectacular starry sky (with no skyglow from artificial lights), the sunrises, the beautiful views in all four directions
- The incredible silence – – nothing but birdsong and on cooler days the wind whistling around the corners of the house
- The hospitality of the hosts – at every turn it is evident how much the villa, the guests, the cuisine and the region mean to them
- Sustainability is a priority for the hosts – be it the building materials or the ingredients for the meals
GOOD TO KNOW:
- There is a delicious organic breakfast (included in the price for single and double rooms, as an extra for the apartments).
- The hosts know what they are doing: Alexander Popitz was a senior technician at the Prinzregententheater in Munich and Guido Hettler was restaurant manager at the vegetarian restaurant "bux" at the Viktualienmarkt, he has also cooked on the Traumschiff MS Berlin and in a Munich five-star restaurant.
- There are no TVs in the rooms (deliberately), but you can socialize with other guests and the hosts in the garden or at dinner (of course only if it suits you).
- Children are welcome, but there are no extra beds.
- The nice little sauna is perfect for relaxing after a hike.
- The hosts support the idea of slow food. The certified organic kitchen uses regional and seasonal dishes as much as possible. Vegetarians will find imaginative vegetarian menus and meat lovers will find classic meat cuisine that consciously uses all parts of the animal. Upscale French country cuisine is combined with regional dishes.
- As quiet and idyllic as it is here, the villa hosts various events throughout the year – readings, theater productions, yoga retreats, dance evenings, and baking classes .
- There are art studios, seminar rooms, and party space - the beautifully remodeled coachman's house (with excellent acoustics) can accommodate up to 25 people, in the main house there is also a seminar room (50 sqm), a studio (40 sqm) and a salon (30 sqm). State-of-the-art stage and seminar technology can also be booked.
