Villa Gloria
Lazy days. Delicious food. Birdsong. Grass between your toes. A good book in hand. Soaking in the sun. Counting the clouds. Taking it moment by moment. There’s no better place for all of the above than the Ritten, a mountain ridge overlooking the city of Bolzano. In the beautiful and often stately summer resort houses up here, large and inviting, with flower-bedecked balconies, you just want to stand at the window every morning, push open the green and white shutters with a deep and happy sigh, and then start leisurely into the day. One particularly beautiful house is the graceful Villa Gloria, which boasts ten vacation apartments. The longtime inn recently underwent a makeover, and now impresses in matte, earthy colors and clean lines. The apartments are spacious and bright, furnished in a rustic style and have everything you need. Plus a fantastic view ¬ the mountains to one side mountain, the valley to the other. Anything you might be missing can be found in the salotto, the house’s parlor. Cheese, wine, cakes, all South Tyrolean specialties of course. The garden is particularly beautiful ¬ the best open-air living room, with enough room for all guests to find a favorite spot. A summer resort like no other.
What we like:
- The pretty window niches in some of the apartments
- The spectacular view of the South Tyrolean mountain landscape
- The rustic, rural style makes you feel relaxed as soon as you arrive.
- The many beautiful details: painted cupboards, old telephones, fresh flowers
- The graceful house with its green and white shutters and half-timbering, characteristic of the summer resort houses
- The beautiful garden around the house--it’s so green and so fragrant and so full of blossoms, it simply begs you to start your day here with breakfast, and never leave.
- The big, beautiful swing in the garden
- The cozy salotto - the house’s parlor is always open for the guests.
- The perfect location: in the midst of the mountain idyll, but the city, with restaurants, cafes, and stores is only 12 minutes away.
- The wonderfully cordial hosts
GOOD TO KNOW:
- A total of 10 apartments of different sizes are available, from 25 to 45 square meters.
- The B&B service: a breakfast box full of fresh local delicacies can be delivered every day
- In the neighboring and associated Gloriette Guesthouse there is an insanely beautiful rooftop pool and a panoramic sauna--both are available to guests for a special price.
- For snacks or refreshing drinks between meals, check the refrigerator in the Trust Shop: it’s stocked with South Tyrolean specialties and drinks around the clock--you can pay later, it’s on an honors system.
- The villa is geared towards adult guests.
- For those who don't want to explore the area on foot, e-bikes can be rented on site.
- There’s plenty to do: aside from the fantastic scenery, the area around the Ritten offers various events, attractions and museums; how about the bee museum or the earth pyramids, a natural phenomenon and monument?
- Bolzano is only 12 minutes away by a relaxed cable-car ride, or a 30 minute drive; the town of Ritten is 16 km away.
