Villa Parkbos
Belgium is not only home to the European Parliament in cosmopolitan Brussels, but also boasts picturesque landscapes, villages and cities. A good example is the young and vibrant city of Ghent. Those wishing to experience it for themselves should stay at Villa Parkbos, on the green outskirts of the city. The snow-white, historic villa is located in a spacious park surrounded by trees and marshland. After running a hotel in Switzerland for several years, the friendly owners Wouter and Fien felt drawn back to their homeland. In the Ghent district of De Pinte, they found the property, which radiates peace and tranquility. Here, on the former castle farm estate, they took their time to create a retreat, combining history, art and nature. Fantastically situated in a large nature and recreation area, the house offers space for all your needs and wants. In the three modern rooms, their happy guests can enjoy Bed & Brunch—and buy! This is because the hosts are frequently asked about the carefully selected, pretty items available here, such as the geometric interior objects by Domestic Bliss founder Helena Thienpont. All rooms are individually furnished with a mix of contemporary and traditional elements. The rustic wooden doors and beams set their own accents in the bright rooms alongside the colorful geometric pieces. The suites are named after colors that can be found in the rooms as deliberate design highlights. The huge park is a wonderful place to relax, work, talk and read--each to their own. Villa Parkbos is the ideal starting point for discovering Ghent and the fourth largest metropolitan region. True to the motto that Wouter and Fien have chosen for a time-out in their villa: ‘Retreat, relax and recharge’.
WHAT WE LIKE MOST:
- The magnificent villa is located in a spacious park surrounded by forest, marshland, meadows and castles.
- The three rooms are clearly designed, and tastefully renovated and furnished. The king-size beds ensure truly royal sleeping comfort.
- The azure blue in the Azul room can be found in the headboard of the bed and is picked up in small details such as the desk. Special feature: Two additional guests can make themselves comfortable on the sofa bed in the Azul. And there’s even exclusive access to the private Relax Room.
- Forest is the largest room. It has a modern kitchenette and the most beautiful view over the extensive park from historic lattice windows. Thanks to its large dining table / desk and plenty of storage space, Forest is ideal for workation stays.
- A bright yellow carpet brightens up the Sunset room, while a yellow washbasin and light terracotta plasterwork evoke a sunny, upbeat mood.
- The rustic wooden beams in the bathroom blend harmoniously with the warm terracotta plastered walls.
- Late riser breakfast: The truly excellent brunch is served from 8 am to 1 pm... freshly prepared from local ingredients, delicious and full of variety.
- Instead of asking “Where can I get that?”, it’s more a case of “I’d like that too!” The art and decorative elements in the rooms are all for sale.
- In the spacious garden, you’ll find colorful chairs in small seating areas, chic retro parasols, cushions and chairs of all kinds, a fire bowl for cozy evenings and occasionally a deer can be spotted here, too.
Good to know
- Children are welcome, there is one baby bed available
- When the Azul Room is not occupied, the Relax Room is open to all guests.
- Netflix, Sonos soundbars and really fast WiFi are available for those who don’t want to leave the house at all.
- Each room has a fully stocked minibar and the option to enjoy coffee and tea.
- In addition to the three guest rooms, Villa Parkbos also offers a business room: Ideal for private meetings or team-building events with a small number of participants.
- Groups 6 to 8 people can also rent all the rooms as a holiday home. The entire first floor of the villa will then be private for them, including a cozy living room to eat, relax, etc.
- For guests with dogs: you can walk fantastic long nature walks from the villa.
- Balls are great: A pool table and a ping pong table are available, as is a tennis court.
- Tree or dog? Yoga is also offered.
- There are also movie nights, themed evenings and tours of the pubs on offer.
- While you’re here, you should definitely visit Gravensteen Castle and the buildings on Graslei, a row of guild houses on Leiehafen harbor.
- The picturesque municipality of Sint-Martens-Latem is also worth a visit! You can visit the artists’ town, which is considered the cradle of Flemish Expressionism, on your own, on a guided (bike) tour or on a boat trip. Numerous painters, writers, sculptors, poets and musicians live and work here on the banks of the River Leie.
- Brussels (to the south-east) and Antwerp (to the north-east) are around 50 kilometers away, with Bruges (to the west) around 40 kilometers away; the De Pinte train station is 2.4 kilometers away.
