Luis & Die Buabm

The inn in Jenesien has always been a well-visited place—travelers and locals alike used to pop in to see host Luis after work. When his two sons, Florian and Tobias—the two “Buabm”—took over the business, they wanted to preserve this familiar and personal touch, but also to update things. Of course, a change of generations always brings a breath of fresh air into a place ... so open the windows and doors, give everything a good airing and shake it out. With a twinkle in their eyes, the two brothers have renovated and modernized the rooms, restaurant, and bar, combining traditional elements with modern style, paying attention to the essentials and keeping things simple. The Buabm are a little bit quirky, empty whiskey bottles are used as lamps above the bar and billy goats with ski goggles greet guests from the wallpaper. The brothers don’t take themselves too seriously, but they do take their guests very seriously. With a touch of nonchalance, plenty of personality and a clear focus on quality, they make sure that visitors to the inn and the restaurant feel right at home. Good food is especially close to the boys’ hearts—one of them bakes, the other cooks (both fantastically) and their fine hosting skills have been passed along the family line. Papa Luis and Mama Frieda can be really proud of their sons!

What we like:

  • Tradition, modernity, high quality standards and a relaxed feel-good atmosphere are combined in a perfect balancing act.
  • The view of the majestic peaks of the South Tyrolean Dolomites is stunning.
  • There’s a real touch of humor—in some rooms, you’re greeted from the walls by beer-drinking marmots.
  • The headboards upholstered in blue and white fabric are chic and turn the beds into perfect reading places.
  • Even the small rooms are big enough to have their own seating area with sofa, table and TV.
  • Each room has its own balcony, most of them with a mountain view.
  • There’s a small pool and sauna on the top floor with a fantastic view of the Dolomites, of course.
  • South Tyrolean fusion cuisine—in the in-house restaurant, there’s a wonderful mix of “simple” South Tyrolean cuisine and more upscale dishes with an international influence, mmmmh!
  • The modern bar also has a village pub feeling—here you’ll find thirsty people of every kind, locals as well as tourists.

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • The inn offers a total of ten rooms in two sizes, family rooms are also possible on request.
  • Breakfast is included and the amazing spread is served to your table.
  • The sun terrace in front of the house invites you to stay put when the weather is nice.
  • The double rooms ‘S’ have a pretty side view of the mountains.
  • Bolzano is ten minutes by car; there’s also a bus service.
  • The picturesque village of Jenesien is situated at 1,100 meters above Bolzano and is the perfect starting point for bike tours, hikes or walks. The hiking area Salten with its wonderfully fragrant larch woods is just as close as the famous Tschöggelberg.
  • In winter, the skiing areas of Reinswald or Meran 2000 can be reached easily in 45 minutes.
