The Tannerhof

In the midst of greenery, in the spa town of Bayrischzell in the Alpine region of Tegernsee Schliersee, an idyllic place of relaxation beckons: the Tannerhof. Behind this simple name hides virtually an entire village - a collection of several buildings, in which a total of 60 rooms are located. All with an amazing view of the Wendelstein and over the Leizach valley. Until it was remodeled in 2011, the Tannerhof was a sanatorium for naturopathic treatments; today, the spacious property is a mix of old, typically Upper Bavarian stock (like the farmhouse) and modern architecture like the four air towers sheathed in wooden shingles. These are joined by the air huts built as early as 1905, as well as hermit's huts and an orangery. A bathhouse, swimming pool and sauna house can also be found above Bayrischzell in the midst of nature. Burgi von Mengershausen and her husband Roger Brandes run the Tannerhof today in the fourth generation as a doctor-led family business and have turned it into a real "feel-good hideaway in the mountains", which many of their guests even visit several times a year. Health here includes not only nutrition, but also activities like yoga, Pilates and even folk dancing! All things that rejoice the soul! It also includes art: art courses, changing exhibitions in the "Gallery in the Staircase" and the photographs of Christopher Thomas. In the health resort Tannerhof is the word "resort" - rearrange. In this beautiful hideaway in the mountains, the soul, physical and mental reorganization is professionally and at the same time very familiar and affectionately connected. Supported by the healing power of nature and the fantastic mountain air. 

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

• the Tannerhof is unconventional and very relaxed. The motto here is: Come as you are!

• here is a perfect symbiosis of old stock and bold, fresh design: authentic rural-traditional to cubist-cool. Everything friendly and definitely kitsch-free
• the spacious parlors, in which a lot of light wood has been used
• Enjoy silence on the yoga and sun deck in the middle of the forest
• the natural shower with water from the mountain stream
• you can take time out together, even if only one wants to fast - the fellow travelers can still dine well!
• all who fast or do the "slim fir" diet, eat together. Definitely lifts the mood!
• art also has its place here, changing exhibitions can be admired
• the bavarian veteran Gerhard Polt was of course already here to lose a few pounds, and immediately provided the wonderful photographs of Christopher Thomas with written comments!
• moderated concerts of different styles are also available

GOOD TO KNOW:

• you can choose between three air cabins, four cabin towers, 34 single and double rooms
• Buchinger fasting has been practiced here for over 60 years, but the catering concept is nowadays three-pronged: in addition to soups and juices, you can also choose the low-carbohydrate diet "Slim Fir" - or a completely "normal" evening menu with fish and meat.
• all dishes are freshly prepared by the chefs from regional and organic ingredients
• there is a free weekly program with a large offer of exercise and relaxation 
• Sauna house, swimming pool and fitness room are available
• Burgi gives weekly lectures on nutrition and health; Burgi's aunt, a painter and art therapist, offers art classes at her studio cottage
