Lenk Lodge

When it’s time for a change of perspective, the Swiss Simmental valley is the perfect choice – it’s often called the most beautiful valley in the Alps. In the presence of the majestic mountains, so much that seemed so very important becomes insignificant. Against this backdrop of rugged cliffs and rolling hills, Magdalena Kossmann and Raphael Simcic run a boutique hotel in a nearly century-old farmhouse with six individually designed apartments, one double room, and one single room. Creaky stairs and rustic wooden walls meet light and modern design. Each accommodation has a special feature for the guest’s enjoyment: a private arbor balcony, a fabric swing, a tiled stove in the bedroom, a wooden bathtub, or a large terrace. It's a fabulous setting to relax and unwind in the peace and quiet of the mountain air. Not only is there a meditation cushion in every room or apartment, but there is also a loft and a communal room where the hosts offer yoga retreats and meditation courses. A hi-fi system with a turntable and a well-assorted and curated selection of vinyl records provide an analog sound experience. And if you want even more relaxation, try the very special hotel sauna: located in the garden and with a panoramic view of the surroundings, it is housed in a decommissioned mountain gondola. How enchanting! After relaxation comes enjoyment: the honesty bar offers refreshing drinks, such as Simmental beer, which is brewed right in Lenk. The Lenk Lodge in the Bernese Oberland is an ideal starting point for both exciting excursions to the outer mountain sights and for relaxing journeys to your inner self.

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

  • The wide meadows directly around the Lenk Lodge and the large terraces, either with morning or evening sun.
  • Through the windows you can see the cows grazing so peacefully that you can't help but relax.
  • The magnificent view of the Bernese Alps.
  • The hi-fi system with a turntable in the lounge is delightful with its nostalgic vinyl sound. Here you can relax with a glass of wine or a cup of tea by the crackling fireplace – incidentally, the absolute best spot in bad weather.
  • The lodge was opened in 2013 but has been recently renovated, so everything shines with a fresh new look.
  • The small gondola sauna in the garden, where two people can enjoy a nice warm sauna. If you're looking for more spa moments, there are various options in the village.
  • The 50 m² room under the roof can be used as a spacious studio apartment – with a mini kitchen, a cozy double bed, a separate bathroom, and an inviting sitting and dining area – or as a room for retreats and seminars.

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • After switching off comes enjoyment: the in-house restaurant LUH serves creative vegetarian sharing cuisine – regional, seasonal, and surprisingly different. The meals are accompanied by selected natural wines, great attention to detail, and a relaxed atmosphere that perfectly combines community and enjoyment.
  • The delicious vegetarian breakfast buffet with many local specialties and homemade delicacies can be enjoyed in the morning between 8 and 11 a.m. in the living room, on the terrace, or in the apartment.
  • Because inner reflection and defiant phases do not always go hand in hand, guests are only welcome from the age of 12.
  • In the lodge's cozy lounge, you can help yourself to fair trade coffee, Länggass tea, and mountain water free of charge.
  • The honesty bar always has something to quench your thirst: beers from the Simmental valley, Swiss organic beverage creations, and high-quality low-intervention natural wines.
  • All apartments have a kitchenette; the amenities vary according to size.
  • The hotel's own shop, Manufactum, offers beautiful items ranging from unique pieces such as handmade yoga cushions to selected gourmet products from the region.
  • You can not only vacation here, but also work: the seminar loft is suitable for 2-8 people and, in addition to complete seminar equipment, also has its own fireplace!
  • In winter, the area boasts a network of 185 kilometers of slopes for all levels. On warmer days, swimming in crystal-clear mountain lakes or small mountain streams is the order of the day. There are also beautiful waterfalls to discover.
  • Natural care products are provided in the rooms.
  • Guests checking into the Lenk Lodge can use the regional buses free of charge. In summer, the mountain railways and regional public transport are also included in the price.
  • The lodge is located on the edge of the mountain village of Lenk. The house can be reached by public transport or by car.
