Tilia Authentic Home

At the mouth of the Vistula in Mikoszewo, just 15 minutes by bike from the Baltic Sea, lies a remarkable guesthouse: Tilia Authentic Home. Two buildings with four very special apartments combine rural simplicity, wood and clay with contemporary design to create a wonderful synthesis of the arts. Interior designer and restorer Katarzyna Pielaszkiewicz, who runs the design studio MICA design, has fulfilled a dream here for herself and her family of five: To live in an old wooden house in the middle of nature. Full of dedication and a fine sense of intuition, she has set about renovating and designing the two former haylofts. The two buildings made of rough wooden boards were gutted and fitted with a glass front. They were carefully modernized, partly with fragments of the over 200-year-old neighboring arcaded house that Katarzyna occupies with her husband Michal and their children. Inside, naturally aged wooden plank walls, old stones and natural materials like linen combine with minimalist furnishings, mostly made of wood. This blend of historically rugged building materials and understated Nordic clean line, high-quality design continues into the respective kitchens, creating the perfect aesthetics for the eyes and soul. The Tilia Authentic Home vacation apartments located on the edge of the village are surrounded by meadows, fields and forests. They are brimming with positive energy and tranquility due to their natural location and restrained architecture. The wide beach by the Baltic Sea is only two and a half kilometers away, the expanse of the sky almost endless.

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

  • The perfect interplay of weathered wood, old stones, hemp and linen with light wood elements and glass.
  • It’s in the name—earthy brown and gray tones dominate in apartment Lignum (wood), where the wealth of wood exudes its own history. The apartment Ventus (wind) above is designed in lighter shades, picking up on the colors of the sky. Solis (sun), in fact the sunniest and largest accommodation, extends over two floors to let plenty of sunshine into the living space, and Terra (earth) which, besides featuring a lot of wood, is perfectly charming with its reddish clay, mini mezzanine and hammock in the small outdoor area.
  • The deep connection to nature that you can immediately feel here—an inspiring, powerful place to feel good, to dream, to walk and also to work.
  • The two magnificent lime trees in front of the house, which gave the house its name: 'Tilia' is the Polish word for lime tree.
  • The many old, historical building elements used in the guest apartments.
  • The peace and the vastness of the landscape—almost a whole hectare of land full of meadows and fruit trees
  • The sea being so close. There are even two seals living on the sandy headland!
  • during the day the endless expanse of the sky, at night the glittering starry sky. Because there's no light pollution here!
  • The friendly, very helpful owners
