Urlaub an der Seenplatte

Simply do nothing. And in a thousand different ways—like sitting in the countryside and marveling at the wild flowers, lying in bed and allowing your gaze to wander through the trees to the water. Or simply make yourself comfortable in the living room and enjoy the sound of the crackling open fire ... In the modern wooden bungalow, right by the Kleiner Pälitzsee lake in the Mecklenburg Lake District, up to six guests can while away the hours, simply relaxing to their heart’s content. Or the opposite: By fully immersing themselves in the incredibly beautiful landscape with active pursuits. The vacation home is located on a 20,000-square-metre largely unspoilt property with woods and meadows. Directly behind it is even more forest and meadows—and the enchanting lake. There’s plenty of space here. So much so that everyone can find their own favorite spot. The house itself covers 120 square meters and features a large apartment with an additional connecting bedroom with bathroom, if required. Floor-to-ceiling windows, light-flooded rooms, a bright, friendly color scheme, real wood parquet flooring, underfloor heating and a pleasantly minimalist interior create an all-round cozy atmosphere. There’s such a sense of well-being here that curious visitors even drop by from time to time to see what’s going on: Rabbits, deer, squirrels, foxes ... Sitting on the large terrace or looking through the huge windows from the living room, you can watch the natural spectacle in peace and quiet and relax to the max. This accommodation is a wonderful retreat for anyone who wants to be completely at one with themselves, their favorite people and the truly stunning landscape.

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

  • Even from the outside, the clear, straightforward architecture of the modern wooden bungalow exudes a sense of calm that immediately dispels any hint of hectic activity.
  • Large floor-to-ceiling windows define the character of the house—the inside and outside flow seamlessly from one to the other.
  • Morning, noon or evening, for breakfast, a sundowner or a yoga class—the large south-west-facing terrace looking towards the lake, and the meadow is always a favorite spot.
  • The large and light-flooded living and dining area with a large and well-equipped kitchen is perfect for cooking: Mushrooms can be picked fresh from the forest.
  • The house is slightly elevated, which allows for a fabulous panoramic view of the forest, meadows and the glistening lake.
  • Pack your swimming gear: There’s access to the lake with swimming opportunities on the neighboring property, and there are many other secluded bathing spots all around that are not to be missed.
  • The colorful flower meadows, ancient oaks and lush greenery everywhere are a feast for the eyes.
  • Pick your own mushrooms, chestnuts and blueberries in the small neighboring forest.
  • It’s also lovely here in the colder months, thanks to the panoramic view of nature, the wood-burning stove and the underfloor heating.
  • The spacious property is located directly by the Kleiner Pälitzsee lake. It’s surrounded by alders and a reed bed on the lake side and is optimally protected by a small forest on the side facing the little-used road.

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • The large apartment (90 square meters) has two bedrooms and a spacious bathroom. An extension with a further bedroom and bathroom can be booked on request. Both apartments combined are 120 square meters in total and designed for six people.
  • A high chair and baby bed can be provided on request.
  • Sustainability plays a major role: Careful attention has been paid to preserving the natural habitat for biodiverse flora and fauna; in addition, 100 percent of the energy required comes from renewable sources.
  • The property is located away from the road in the Kolonie district of the village of Großzerlang, which is part of the Mecklenburg Lake District. It marks the largest contiguous lake area in Central Europe with more than 1,000 large and small lakes connected by rivers or canals.
  • The bungalow is an ideal starting point for hiking, cycling and kayaking tours. You can also go fishing, canoeing, swimming or cross-country skiing.
  • Nearby are the historic towns of Rheinsberg (about 13 kilometers away) and Neuruppin (around 40 kilometers away), where you can follow in the footsteps of Theodor Fontane.
  • Berlin is about 110 kilometers away.
  • In Seewalde, 10 kilometers away, there’s a small organic farm with cattle, pigs, donkeys and chickens—they’re always happy to welcome visitors. You can also buy excellent meat, eggs and apple juice in the farm shop.
  • In the nearby Havelberge holiday park, about 25 kilometers away, young and old can try their hand at the high ropes course.
  • An electric charging station is available.
  • The minimum rental period is six nights in the high season, two nights in the low season.
