Saleghes Dolomites
Aparthotels combine the best of two worlds: The service of a well-kept hotel and the intimacy of a vacation apartment. When the whole thing is as well designed as the small architecture and design aparthotel Saleghes Dolomites and the hosts give you such a warm welcome, you’ll always feel really at home. The hillside location in the midst of the most beautiful mountain panorama inspired the two architects Hannes Ladstätter and Stefan Taschler from Archilab Bruneck to create a clearly structured design hotel with a linear look. The Saleghes Dolomites is located at the entrance to the village of Selva Gardena at an altitude of 1,550 meters and delights its residents with an incredible view of the rocky peaks of the Sella massif, the Sassolungo group and the Puez-Odle Nature Park. Wooden slats create a consistent design feature throughout the elegant building; they provide structure and act as both partitions and balcony balustrades. Huge glass fronts let in plenty of light, welcoming the vastness and beauty of nature inside. The furnishings are light, clean-lined and timeless, boasting superb craftsmanship and a natural feel. Each of the differently sized apartments has the scent of spruce wood, which forms the main component alongside slate and quartzite. Every single day promises a relaxed, cozy and wonderfully laid-back start—the Saleghes breakfast box and its beguiling aroma of fresh rolls and hearty bread waiting outside the apartment door in the morning, whether you’re an early or late riser. So well looked after, so beautifully nestled in the middle of a natural wonder—you’ll want to book the Saleghes Dolomites for the next time as soon as you leave.
WHAT WE LIKE MOST:
- The successful design with wooden slats. Looks great from the outside as well as the inside, provides pleasant shading and, depending on the incidence of light, it constantly casts new striped patterns on the floor and walls.
- The architects designed an elongated wing based on the mountain architecture of the 1920s; the building nestles into the slope and blends harmoniously into the surroundings.
- The contrast between the dark impregnated larch wood on the outside and the light spruce wood on the inside
- Each of the apartments is bright and flooded with light, as well as clearly and generously designed.
- The use of traditional and natural materials, such as slate, quartzite and oak floors, as well as high-quality fabrics and textiles—timeless design that creates an absolute feel-good atmosphere.
- The large window fronts that open up a view of the surroundings
- Breakfast whenever and however you want it: In pajamas or “properly” dressed, very early in the morning or in the afternoon—oh yessss, please! Because the well-filled breakfast basket (for an extra charge) is placed in front of your door.
- The warmth of the hosts—you’ll feel very welcome here!
- In the morning, at lunchtime or in the evening, you can relax in the lounge in front of the open fire and sip hot tea or a cool drink.
- In the hotel library, you’ll find plenty of reading material from hiking guides to novels.
- Finnish sauna, bio sauna and aroma steam bath are a real treat and will help to relax your muscles and mind.
- As the hosts themselves grew up in a family of artists, they love the daily dialog with art. Numerous works by various local artists adorn the aparthotel.
- Bizarre rock formations, gray stone, gentle high plateaus and alpine pastures—you’re right in the middle of the Dolomites UNESCO World Heritage Site.
- Serene and close to nature, clear and warm—that’s the Saleghes Dolomites.
GOOD TO KNOW:
- The apartments each have a well-equipped kitchen; bathrobes and toiletries are provided—clear advantages of staying in an aparthotel.
- Children aged seven and over are very welcome.
- Off to the sauna after so much fresh air during the day—the sauna area is open daily from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- In summer, hiking routes, mountain bike trails, via ferratas and alpine huts beckon; in winter, there are great slopes almost right on the doorstep with guaranteed snow from December to April.
- Village life isn’t far away: A ten-minute walk takes you to Selva Val Gardena’s lively village center, where you’ll find everything you need for everyday shopping, as well as lovely stores to browse, bars, restaurants and traditional inns.
- The weekly Val Gardena Active program: There are daily offers and programs from local guides around Val Gardena, such as torchlight walks, special hikes, cross-country skiing and climbing taster courses, gastronomic experiences, guided snowshoe hikes, mountain bike tours and more.
- The world-famous slopes of Dolomiti Superski are just 900 meters from the aparthotel; in winter, you can hop on the ski bus right outside the door—there’s also a private shuttle to the lifts from 9 am to 10 am; until mid-March, for example, the ski trail even extends right to the front door.
- The hotel is easily accessible by car, but also by public transport; the bus stops in front of the door and tickets for public transport throughout South Tyrol are free of charge.
- Not only German, Italian and English are spoken here, but also Ladin, one of the oldest Romansh languages!
