Parkhotel Mondschein

Some people seem to have been born with the hospitality gene – like the brothers Klaus and Moritz Dissertori. With the Parkhotel Mondschein, the two of them are already opening their fourth hotel in South Tyrol, an outstanding one at that. Their other hotels are the 1477 Reichhalter, the Villa Arnica and the Schwarzschmied in Lana. The latest addition is located in the middle of the old town of Bolzano. A beautiful park surrounds the hotel, where you can begin the day with a delicious breakfast. The building was already constructed in 1330 and then upgraded in 1860 in belle époque style. The surroundings alone, like the palm trees casting their picturesque shadows on the ivy-covered façade with its white shutters, hold the promise of gentle calm and dolce far niente. And indeed, it’s the friendly, relaxed atmosphere that makes this accommodation so special. When you enter Parkhotel Mondschein, you’re greeted with a pleasant sense of space, the high ceilings and ornate stucco decorations exuding plenty of historic charm. The rooms were designed by the Merano interior design company Biquadra. The high-quality interior boasts a simple retro look, characterised by clear lines and functionality that create an elegant minimalist style allowing the opportunity for quietening the mind. Dark real-wood flooring, unusual light sources and purist furniture exude luxurious simplicity and transport guests back to the 1950s in the blink of an eye. Anyone checking in has automatically booked some serious time travelling to boot. The goal of the operators was to create a place to unwind – and the Dissertori brothers could hardly have succeeded any better.

WHAT WE LIKE MOST:

  • From the bathroom fixtures to the lampshades to the Marshall Bluetooth box – the carefully chosen retro interior conveys an authentic mid-century atmosphere that is conducive for deep relaxation (and somehow has you wanting to dig out old James Bond movies ...).
  • No matter where you look, eye pleasers abound – those who appreciate the finer things in life will love both the Parkhotel itself as well as South Tyrol's capital Bolzano. The beauty is abundant: the breath-taking mountain panorama, idyllic winding streets and rooms designed aesthetically in every detail with green and brown colours reminiscent of the mountain scenery ...
  • The beautiful life – it’s celebrated here. A walk through the park, a martini in good company, a yoga session in the in-house studio "Arise". Whatever it is you need, you’ll find it here – relaxation or activities, good company or tranquillity.
  • Contemporary works by two artists as part of an "artist-in-residency" programme provide intriguing accents to the historic setting – they are inspired by the building itself and were placed throughout the hotel when it opened in May 2022.

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • The Luna Bar is open daily from 7 a.m. to midnight and offers the best coffee, cornetti, freshly squeezed orange juice, panini, delicious cakes, cocktails, beer, and South Tyrolean natural wines for an afternoon aperitivo.
  • At Luna Restaurant, you can enjoy international classics or international specialties, such as handmade pasta, fresh fish from the Adriatic coast, high-quality meat from local butchers, and vegetables and fruit straight from our own fields. Luna Restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants in Bolzano, with impressive original ceiling decorations—a glimpse back into history to the year 1320
  • The in-house pizzeria has a relaxed and casual atmosphere: Alto Pizza serves fantastic homemade pizza and a glass of natural wine – or home-brewed beers or fresh juices.
  • Children up to four years of age stay free of charge (baby cots upon request).
  • das Yogastudio bietet ein umfassendes Programm und auch regelmäßige Retreats in  wunderbarer Atmosphäre
  • There is always something happening at the Parkhotel Mondschein. From Moontalks to DJ’n’Drinks to exciting guest chefs, exciting events take place regularly at the Luna Bar and in the park.
  • The sauna, gym, and outdoor pool provide opportunities for exercise and relaxation.
  • The beautiful historic centre of Bolzano is easily reached on foot: here you can immerse yourself in the exciting mix of candy-coloured buildings and lavishly decorated arcades, stroll along cobblestone streets and marvel at the colourful variety of markets.
  • Bolzano has impressive culinary treasures to offer; in the immediate vicinity of the hotel, for example, there are no less than three high-ranking restaurants owned by the star chef Claudio Melis – we recommend exploring the range of exquisite food (and please go for at least one wine tasting!).
  • No matter where you go, the Dolomites are close by – and definitely worth a day-visit.
  • There are so many sights to discover and the Parkhotel is the perfect starting point: the South Tyrolean Museum of Archaeology (0.6 km), the Puez-Odle nature park (0.6 km) and Runkelstein Castle (1.9 km).
  • If you like the Hotel Mondschein, you should also visit one of the other beautiful properties owned by the Dissertori family in Lana: the hotels 1477 Reichhalter, die Villa Arnica and Schwarzschmied
